Anyone runnin' the BBK intake on their 5.0

And on the 302 ci test that 5.0 Mustang performed the BBK SSI was mediocre losing out to both the GT40 and Edelbrock. I believe "confused" was the adjective that the writer of the article used to described the SSI on a 302 ci motor and the author of the thread has a 302 under the hood. Tim

    a few problems

Take your serpentine belt off and check your pullies. My idler pulley made that chirping noise until I got a new one from 50resto.com for $17, I put it on and the chirping went away. You'll be able to tell if the bearing is worn out when you spin the pulley. Tim

    Mil eliminators

Nope, the O2 sensors (only 2 and not 4 like the '96 and up 4.6s) are before the catalytic converters and won't know they've been taken off if the only place they are located is before the cats.

    Hydrocarbon test questions?

I run that same Mr Gasket 180* t-stat and it rocks. For the emissions crowd they also have the same t-stat but in 195* as well. Car always runs nice and cool (even cooler now that the weather is cooling off and I moved back up north). Tim

E7 heads with stock springs, e,f,b,x cams?

He's not getting a Ford cam, he's getting a Ford Racing cam which is made by Crane! Even with 1.7s he'll need new valve springs or he's looking for trouble. Tim

    Transmission wont stay in first

Perhaps, but the above point about checking the shifter stops was to exhaust the free possibilities before trying the expensive stuff. That being said when my shifter stop caused my tranny to pop out of 1st, 3rd and 5th were fine. After my stops were adjusted the problem ceased. Tim

    plug gap for 10:1 compression?

If you have the MSD look in the book and it'll tell you what to gap the plugs at for your particular CR. If you don't have the book, the MSD book told me .040. Tim

Dies after start, restart, then fine...why?

Where is your idle set at? My car did that after my intake swap and idled at 650 RPM. I adjusted the idle to 750-800 rpm and the problem went away. Tim

    Throttle Body Question

That is a big vacuum leak which leans the air fuel ratio which can lead to detonation. You need to find a way to reconnect the PCV tube to the throttle body and then reconnect the PCV vacuum tube from the valve cover to the throttle body. Tim

    plug gap for 10:1 compression?

.050 would be good if you have the stock ignition. With more dramatic combustion events with higher compression the gap needs to be closed a bit in order to prevent the spark from "blowing out". My MSD manual recommended .040 for use with an MSD unit and 10:1 compression.

Does coolant have to run thru the TB?

You should keep them unless you have a good reason for deleting them since they do cool the EGR spacer which can transfer more heat to the upper intake if you delete the coolent lines. That being said apart from a hotter intake and possibly hotter intake charge you should have no problems if...

    Transmission wont stay in first

Before you start anything expensive, check the stops on your short throw shifter. I had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out that my adjustable stop moved. TIm

70 MM TB, CAI, and it runs slower + idles higher.

A blown HG might not exhibit any of those symptoms, and sometimes just heats up the coolent enough to have it boil over on a regular basis.

If the tuner shut the EGR off, then you'll have to turn it back on in the computer even if you do reconnect all of the EGR stuff. Tim

I went from 160-170 miles per tank to 180+ when I reconnected my EGR. Individual results may vary! :D Tim

How does the cobra Intake (lwr and upr) stand up to the big boys

Since you have a car that will be on the street and probably never go to the track I'd stick with the GT40\cobra\explorer series intake or an Edelbrock, no need to go larger as you'll lose some low end which is vital on the street. All of the articles and shoot outs I've seen show the GT40...

how many are EGR less on the street?

Glad to hear you're reinstalling your EGR! A couple of years ago I capped off the EGR valve without turning EGR off in the computer like the guys above when I put my LT headers on (the LTs didn't have the EGR bung), and my car pinged like crazy, and mileage did go down a little as well. When I...

    65mm or 70mm TB?

GM is also providing a lot more cubes from the factory than the 302 has. Bigger is not always better, 65 should be good for him 70 max especially since he needs to port match his intake to the throttle body if he goes above 70 in most cases.

70 MM TB, CAI, and it runs slower + idles higher.

If you're using the stock EGR spacer with the 70mm TB, that's one problem. The EGR is another, so fix that vacuum tube. And going from an electric fan to the stock fan will make the car feel slower. If going back to the stock TB, or getting a 70mm EGR spacer and port matching the intake...
