    Another oil thread...

Go to http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/faq.php?faq=haas_articles It's a long but very interesting read. You may be surprised what you find. I've been running a Mobil 1 0W-30 now for months. Previously a 5W-30. Still use the Motorcraft filter. 6K intervals. Wish I had done it earlier...

    Seat belt retractors

Keep searching. Somewhere I spotted them for $76 each. Can't remember to save me where. Until then, to temporarily improve what you have, a Ford tech told me the best thing that can be done is to fully extend the belt all the way out and let it fully retract. There is no lubrication...

    Drive Cycle Issues

Sorry, no attitude intended. At least you have station employees trying to help. Good Luck with this issue. :nice: GT

    wiper cowl

Nice to see they have a '95-'98 version on their site also. How does the ventilation system get its air with this piece? It looks sharp but..... Is this item raised in the middle to allow air intake between the windshield and the back edge of the C/F cowl panel or what? GT.

intake crack.... but not in usual spot!

The item you found from AutoPartsDirect is the same Dorman product I have had for 3 years now (except mine is nPI). Many areas of the plastic portion of the intake have been thickened in addition to the alum. X-over and with the gasket seals integrated into the assembly, it's install is...

    driveline vibration

There is going to be a bit of play in the output shaft as the condition of the rear trans bushing and the outer surface of the driveshaft yolk are the controlling factors here. If these are the OEM parts, due to age, I would really recommend replacing the driveshaft yolk, rear trans...

    Wrong fan clutch

Question. I don't understand the rush of air from under the dash. Is your heating system fan running wide open all the time? A breeze from the engines cooling fan should not be felt from under the dash. Unless there is a large hole in your firewall or cowl panel. ??? GT

    Wrong fan clutch

I did this years ago to my '66 Coupe. I checked NPD. This is a thermo style fan clutch. These were originally designed to help save fuel by allowing the fan to slip so the engine didn't have to drive the fan constantly like the "fixed" 4-blade standard non-A/C fan. When the thermal sensor...

    Coil Packs / Plugs

You can get just the lower "boot/spring" section of the C.O.P. assemblies from O'Reillys Auto for $3.20 each. They slide right off. These lose their insulative properties over time just like a spark plug wire does. There is no sense in replacing all (8) $76 each C.O.P. assemblies when the...

car wobbles when coming to a stop

Sounds like a tire with a seperated belt. Jack that wheel off the ground and spin it by hand. Watch the tread of the tire as it rotates. GT

Broke two clutch cables, 3rd one is stretching. Reccomend another

I have the original OEM cable (162K miles) and the same Fiore Racing quad & firewall adjuster. No issues. Flawless operation. I would have to recommend an OEM cable as the cable itself is quite a bit thicker than the aftermarket pieces. Do you have the plastic washers installed...

    Adjust belt tensioner?

The beauty of the tensioner is that it adjusts itself. If it shows that it's in the correct tension range double check the pulley alignment of the new alternator vs. the rest of the pulleys. The belt would normally be shredding an edge first in this scenario. GT

    98GT speedo calibration?

Ford pretty much covers speedo gears down to 3.73. Beyond that, you have to go aftermarket or the Speedcal. GT

    '72 Headlight Switch Advise Needed

Yes, there is a spacer/collar missing. Not sure where to go for replacement but you might have to fabricate one until you can find an OEM piece. GT

Remember to use a little anti-seize on each plug upon install of the new plugs! Next time will be easier. GT

    Drive Cycle Issues

We have people here in Nashville that flagrantly, even in the testing station parking lot, have been caught disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU. So now, the '96+ cars have to have a certain number of "drive cycles" or on/off cycles of the key before they will let the car pass. They...
