    i have no alt lamp when ignition on and no 12 volts to the lt grn/red wire. replaced alt cluster lamp, still doesnt light up. what wires do i look for to trace it back to the alternator?

    well :poo:, i think this is the issue, that yellow wire is just barely touching the solenoid post

    ok so something happened. i take seat out for better access and for :poo:s and giggles i turn key and it starts. now i go to check wires at solenoid while running and touch and maybe wiggle wires on battery side of solenoid and motor cuts out and back to no dash lights no crank no start.

    any idea what that the blank slot is on the pigtail end of that ignition switch? under the outter yellow wire

    tested all 3 wires mentioned, grounded test lamp, turned key to crank and no power

    ok so is it the gray/yellow wire or black/light green wire to check for power on the ignition switch?

    ok so changed to a new motorcraft ignition switch, had battery and alternator check and they passed, sanded down ground points to shiny metal for good contact. still no crank no start no dash lights but headlights still turn on and key still chimes

    ok i just ordered a motorcraft ignitiin switch $77 i hope that solves it. in the mean time i will load test batt and alt. thanks

    on a whim decided to try and start car, it started. measured volts running, battery 14.4 and at alternator positive post 13-9-14.0. also ran codes and got 11 and 10. wierd.

    interior lights come on when i open the door, even the key chime still sounds. headlights do not dim when i turn the key, also hi beam flash doesnt work, hi beam works only when i switch the multifunction arm forward to SET to hi beam. factory wiring is not hacked, i made sure of that...

    unfortunately i cant start it to check...but when it was running (just before this whole thing happened) the stock volt meter on the dash was really low, almost to the red..id say between the white line and the red line
