Help me Evaluate my Clutch, PP, Flywheel Condition - Pics Inside

Ok, rebuilding the T5, so figured I'd check out the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate while trans was out, even though it's been working fine. Looks like I have heat marks on the pp and flywheel with some hairline cracks on the flywheel. According the previous owner, the pp and clutch are KC...

    Rear axle refresh questions

This might be obvious but keep track of what side each cap and shim(s) were on and replace the same way. BTW if carrier preload is correct, you should have to tug it of there or use a big screwdriver or prybar. When you put it back, you might as well check backlash, if you have a dial gauge or...

Possible to get exhaust tips rolled?

I have Dynomax 2.5" tailpipes from the mufflers back. Right about where it starts coming down behind the axle it changes to stainless. What I want is to get the slash-cut tips rolled. Is that even possible? Can any exhaust shops do that? Obviously I could get rolled tips welded on, but I want...

    guys who rebuilt their t-5's

I guess I was mostly talking about the inside of the case and the gears. My car only has 56k, so the outside of the case is still pretty clean. I'll still do the coin car wash thing to get whatever gunk is there.

    guys who rebuilt their t-5's

Any tips for cleaning up the parts and case after the teardown? In the Hanlon video he seems to stress that. I was going to buy a small, cheap parts washer, but I haven't heard you guys mention this. Can you get by with a couple cans of brake cleaner?

    guys who rebuilt their t-5's

Great thread! I'm about to tear into mine as I've got a low speed whine, which might mean my counter gearset is done. We'll see. Got a shop press cheap off Craigslist from an auto repair shop that was going out of business. The jack on it needed a couple of o-rings, but now it is good as new.

    Plugs behind Radio??????

Bingo, I just did mine a couple of months ago. It's clipped up behind the HVAC controls. I was able to use a standard Ford aftermarket head unit kit with the 2 long rectangular plugs.

The thread of the nicest FOXES!

Thanks! 275/40-17 Nittos. Technically .5" too wide for the 8.5" wheels. I may switch to Saleen SC 17x10s. (see that sweet GT a couple pages back)

    throttle body ?

I'd say 3.55's for a daily or frequent driver. Having no first gear gets old. I've got 3.73's in my car and I'm switching to 3.55s, since I'm going to be rebuilding the rear end anyway. With the tb, you'll need to eventually get a larger maf so that your whole intake track is larger. Al...

New T5 short shifter.. Which One???

I love my Pro 5.0. Nice, tight throws, no slop at all. I recommend getting the deluxe handle though.

    magnaflow on 90 LX

I would recommend Dynomax tailpipes also. I got a Superturbo catback and the pipes are a work of art. The bends are smooth and clear the axle perfectly. It's probably quieter than most Stangers prefer, but I like it. I preferred the Magnaflow sound, but like others hated the seam of the...

Freaky's Official Explorer and GT-40 intake thread. 56k, dont' bother

So I was installing a new tb this weekend and wondered why the gasket was larger than the face of my Explorer upper. This great post tells me why. :flag: :nice: I've got the later upper (and I assume the lower), which now that I think about it, the previous owner did say it was a late 90's...

Stock Fuel System Adequate for my Combo?

I have all stock fuel system, stock computer and the following mods: - Late Explorer upper and lower - Stock GT-40p heads - E303 cam - 73mm MAF/70mm TB - stock airbox with k&n - headers - 2.5" exhaust I know I need to get dyno'd to check the a/f, but any thoughts as to where I'm at...

    Exhaust: Phase 1-3

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. Have an e-cam, headers and started with Flows and off-road H. Then I added a UPR catted X. Next I swapped in a Dynomax Superturbo catback. Love it. I love the sound of Magnaflows and have them on my Contour, but on foxes, I can't get over the way you see...

    H-pipe brand, does it matter?

My car came with the Summit H and FRPP GT-40P headers and they actually fit very nicely. I had to get cats, so I swapped in a UPR catted X. Fit ok, but they hang down terribly and the cats hit the trans crossmember.

First 1/4 mile run - disappointed

Thanks guys, good advice. :nice: I had the tires at normal pressure. I thought that for street tires, lowering the pressure actually hurt because then you are riding on the sidewalls. I don't have SFCs yet, but even when I get them, I probably won't do slicks, because I'm really just...

First 1/4 mile run - disappointed

I'll preface this by saying this was only the second time I've been to the strip, first in the Stang. My best time was 14.39 @ 98.9 with a 2.199 60 ft and I was carrying a 160lb passenger. The other 3 runs I either missed a shift or spun bad out of the hole. For all the runs I did a quick dry...
