Rearend whine, what's with these shims? Pics. Help!

Pull the carrier and inspect the bearings... Those shims SHOULD NOT have slipped out like that. With the shims out of place, you have excessive backlash and that is causing the whining.

    Motor questions.Need help!!!!!!!!!!

It will work fine. You will need to swap over(from the old bronco motor) the oil pan, pick-up, fuel pump eccentric, timing cover/fuel pump, water pump, and all the brackets/pulley's. You will have to use the balancer off of the '90 and the appropriate flywheel/flexpate in the later ('82-up)...

what 4 banger parts can i use?

Break parts are the same for 7.5's or 8.8's. You won't want the whole rear, as you're '85 has traction loc, and the 4 pot doesn't. The rad and the e-fan are also too small for a V8. The front brakes on '87-'93 4 cyl's, are the same as used on older '79-'85 cars. Other than that there's...

Will a mechanical fuel pump work?

The only way u can use a mechanical pump is by converting to carb, along with the proper timing cover and the fuel pump eccentric that bolts to the front of the cam.

    5.0 carb questions

Sounds like a nice set-up, very similar to mine. Fuel Pressure- 6- 8 PSI, NO MORE!!! (No need to do any thing with vacumn lines- that only applies to FI cars.) Timing- I recurved my dizzy so I get 20* advance in by 2800 RPM, and I run 16* Initial, for a total of 36*. He should shoot for the...

If the 4 pot has a T5, yank it out and pick up pilot bearing BCA-202SS from your local parts store (rent a bearing puller while your at it), swap the bearing, toss in the 4 pot 5 speed and enjoy. It's a cheap solution for now. You can either drive the '86- shouldn't be that loud unless you have...

Need help removing this CD player, how to? (PICS)

There are two tools that come with every aftermarket CD player... They're thin, flat pieces of metal with hooks on the end to grip them by. They slide in on either side, between the deck and the cage and release the tabs that hold the deck in. They're pretty much universal, so if you have a...

need help!! 90 degree spark plug wires

Go to Autozone and scoop up a set of Accel universal wires with 90* boots. You can get them in Red, Blue, Black, or Yellow. The only catch is you have to cut them to length and install the boots on the plug ends yourself. They do come with the crimper though.

No 5th or reverse in T5...

It worked great before. I have the proper pilot bearing as well. One of the mount bolts broke off in the pad, so I swapped on the tailshaft from my trashed V8 T5. I had it out for an engine swap, so it seemed to be the easiest way to solve that problem.

No 5th or reverse in T5...

Nope. I can move it over, but as soon as I try and go up to 5th, or down to reverse, it's like hitting a wall.

No 5th or reverse in T5...

Just like it says. I replaced the tail stock on my 4cyl T5 tranny with one from a V8 T5, and now I cannot get it to go into 5th or reverse, but 1-4 are smooth as butter. It won't even grind, they just won't go. Any idea's? I really don't want to pull the tranny. (again)

GT40/GT40P head questions, worth it with my setup?

With 1.7's and an E cam, upgrading the springs on either head is just about mandatory. TFS has a good, affordable spring kit for late Ford heads. I went with the Edelbrock RPM springs that matched my cam on my P's.

GT40/GT40P head questions, worth it with my setup?

The P's also have a smaller 58cc chamber, compared to the 64cc's on the standard -40 head.
