    8.8 Rearend Fluid

Hissin'' I used a 7/16" oil pan plug with gasket, and I haven't had any leakage yet. It's only been a couple of weeks though.

    8.8 Rearend Fluid

I marked the cover at the same height as the stock fill plug, before I drilled the hole in it!!!

    8.8 Rearend Fluid

If the plug is either too rusty, or starts to strip like mine did, you can also fill it through the axle vent on top of the pass. side axle tube. In all honesty, if you already have the cover off, drill and tap it for a plug. I did, and it made life SO much easier.

Why do ppl put flow restrictors in their heater cores?

So they don't blow out a brand new heater core. Ford did this as well.

Unfortunately, BBK 's LT headers currently only fit 5 Speeds. Mac's are pretty much you're only other affordable choice.

    Fuel tank pick up

The rubber line trick works just fine. If you really want, you can use a piece of 3/8" steel or aluminum line and join it all together with a small piece of rubber hose. You can also braze a piece of metal line on to it.

    Coolant temp question

Yeah, that sounds right. Most parts store thermostat's list a range of operation. Most 180* degree stat's are listed as 180*-192*. Typically they start opening at 180*, and where they end up when they're fully open tends to vary within that range.

Did 3.73 rearend swap.. now thing but more problems

I'm willing to bet that you swapped a 5.0 into a 4 or 6 cyl. car, right? You're tach problem is that it is set for the engine that was in there, 4 and 6 cyl tachs will read retardly high with a V8. If you have an '87-'93 car, it needs to be swapped out for a 5.0 unit. If you have an '79-'83...

    intake diference

The intakes are interchangeable. The lowers are identicale, while the passcar upper is the same more restrictive part used on the '86 HO engine. In fact, the passcar engine is almost identical to the'86 HO in all regards. The exceptions are- Cast intead of forged pistons, and the cam is tamer...

    351w heads

HahA. Yeah, I meant standard GT40 irons. The C9 and D0 heads are essentially the same performance wise. Regardless, the Systemax heads he already has outperform them easily.

    351w heads

The 69-70 D00E Winsdor heads are pretty much on par with standard GT$) iron heads.... That being said, the Systemax heads are WAY better, plus being aluminum, they're lighter.

    Help for the Four-eyed guy

CFI cars usually have 2 pumps... A low preassure 6 PSI in-tank pump, and a high pressure frame mounted pump. If yours is not a late build with the single in-tank pump, you can remove the frame mounted one and replace it with a chunk of rubber fuel line. You will have to replace the...

    Engine block identification

Yep, that makes sense. All '82 and later have the 1 piece seal and the dipstick hole through the block.

    Engine block identification

Sounds like a '79 or older block. That particular oil pan was used only for '78-'79 Fox body 5.0's and '80-'81 255's in the fox line. The dipstick was moved to the bolck in '82, along with a new oil pan without the 'stick provision.

someone teach me how to tune my carb.

Part of the problem is that you HAVE to jet up when running without a PV. Besides, running without one is more of a dedicated drag race deal anyway. If the carb is newer than 1992 it should have PV blowout protection, but if it's older, the kit is ony $5-$10 and easy to install. I would...

someone teach me how to tune my carb.

The PV block off is in the secondary side correct? If it's in the Primary, get a PV in there! Also, the secondary's will have to be jetted 6 or 7 sizes over stock to compensate for the lack of a PV. Also, be sure that the Primary power valve isn't blown, because that will cause an excessive rich...

Do I need to find TDC when doing heads, but not cam?

All Ford Windsor style heads, both factory and aftermarket cast and aluminum, will physically bolt on, so yes the '86 will ecept all Heads designed for a Windsor engine... The problem is that they have those pure flat top pistons with absolutely no valve relief in them. All '85 and older 302/5.o...

Do I need to find TDC when doing heads, but not cam?

Re-read my post... I stated that the TFS heads are the ONLY head that is a bolt on for the '86 with no piston to valve clearence issues. When I mentioned only using the stock cam, I was refering to people who have succesfully used '87 and up E7 heads on the '86 shortblock. Regardless...
