3G alternator bracket mod for 2.3

Here's what the bracket looks like after modification. I did it in true trial and error fashion. Grind a little, check the fit, grind a little, check the fit. I cleaned it up a little, and I'll do more when that bracket gets transferred over to the turbo motor.

Looking for opinions on 3.8l SC swap.

The Eaton supercharger they used was known to fail as well and the rebuild kits weren't cheap. I was offered a complete T-Bird SC that needed a supercharger rebuild or replacement for $500.00. The car otherwise was perfect.

3G alternator bracket mod for 2.3

You've got to clearance the bottom bracket a little to get the case to fit. I ground some out and actually cut a small piece out of the way. The mod I did for the upper bracket saved me from removing more material than I had to by picking the alternator up a little. If I feel froggy...

    Aerostar Drive Shaft mods

Glad I could be of help. I just have to keep repeating to myself: "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's driveshaft" :D :D

I think that's Mr. Huber. He's over at Turboford.

    Aerostar Drive Shaft mods

The yokes are the same spline internally unless the van had an A4LD (I kinda doubt it). Worse comes to worse, you can swap the yokes out between your driveshaft and the aluminum one. Polish up the one in the pic if you end up using it. Even that small amount of surface rust will give your...

    coper plugs?

No, platinum plugs aren't necessary. I think mine actually runs better on copper plugs. I use NGK TR5 plugs in mine, but I've used Autolite and Motorcraft with good results. I hated Bosch platinums.

At a serious loss here need help...

I don't think you're in need of a rebuild or replacement. I think you just have a problem that needs to be addressed. Fixing a problem is much cheaper (maybe not less frustrating) than just replacing the entire motor. This may sound stupid, but are there any signs of water underneath the...

    gas light

Yup, I know where Sarasota is, I just never heard of Nokomis. It's probably like St. Cloud. We're just outside of Orlando and sometimes it's just easier to tell folks we're from Orlando than it is to 'splain where St. Cloud is. :D :D Welcome to Stangnet by the way!

    gas light

I know my fuel mileage went up by a few mpg when I ditched the slushbox and went to the 5spd. I didn't think it would with the 3.73's out back, but I was pleasantly surprised.

    gas light

I guess I should be happy with 270-300 driving in town and 12-12.5 gallons per fill-up. When it dropped down from 300 to 270 the first time I figured I was due for a tune up or something. Never touched the car and the next tank was right back up there. Judging by this thread, I need to quit...

    Supercharged 2.3

Seeing as how more often than not it was the supercharger that put them in the junkyard I agree its best to stay away from 'em. The most aptly named supercharger ever. Eaton. Eaton belts, Eaton bearings, Eaton my hard-earned money. :D :D He claims he's running about 5psi so that keeps him...

    SVO intake on an N/A?

Other than the old inline intake, It's the same setup used on all of them up to '90. Anything later than that had a different design on both the head and the intake and they won't swap. The SVO's advantage came from what fed the intake rather than the intake itself ;)

door adjar noise on constant. please help

Did the domelight come on too? It may just be the switch in the door jamb that's gone bad. It's a cheap and easy fix.

    Supercharged 2.3

There was a pretty good discussion regarding a blown 2.3 a while back, but I think this is the first time I've seen it done. There's some interesting stuff there for sure. At first I was intrigued by the engine driven fan until I realized it was a Ranger. Notice that he's running what...

    2.3 ignition hassles

If I understand correctly, you've got spark at the coil wire where it plugs into the dist. cap. but nothing from the distributor cap to the plugs. I'll ask a dumb question here so bear with me. You're grounding the plugs when you check right, or at least using the old "screwdriver in the end...

    exhaust smell with heat

Think about what the good doctor just told you. The air intake for climate control is outside the car, in front, just below the windshield. Now unless you've got a set of zoomies sticking out of the hood, there really isn't any way for exhaust fumes to enter through there. Also note that the...
