    Bench Testing and oil pump

I went to the ford dealership and leafed through their shop manual and everything was within the specifications. Thanks for the help, the ford tech basically quoted what you said. Jeff

    Bench Testing and oil pump

Bench Testing an oil pump I have an oil pump in my 2.3T on the stand and I'm unsure about it's condition. Everything looked good internally, and the oil pump passes the "looks good" visual inspection. But I'm always paranoid so I was wondering if there is a way to bench test these oil pumps...

    oil starvation in the head

Update I took a closer inspection today, one of the lifters was dead (cracked). This at least explains some of the head problems. Is lifter failure a common problem with these engines? Thanks again Jeff

    oil starvation in the head

I've been pulling apart my 2.3T cylinder head the past couple days. The Cam was really worn, as well as the followers and cam bearing. Everything else in the engine looked brand new amazingly enough, which kind of confirms my suspicions that the bottom end was rebuilt. Anyways I was...

    engine painting

I've never painted an engine before, I always thought it was a waste of time, since I never really cared what the engine looked like under the hood. Anyways I've decided to paint the 2.3T before I put it in. Is priming necessary or not, would standard automotive primer hold up? Thanks Jeff

    head bolt replacement

Just a quick question, ford recommends replacing the head bolts on it's 2.3t when re-building an engine. Is this a "While your there do it" mentality or is it just a cash grab? It's a low mileage block (80K, 65K mi I think). Do you think this is a necessity I know they stretch, but...

    Thought id show some pics...

I agree with muh'stang, I'm stunned that a 19yr old spent 20 grand on a car. I'm Canadian, thats like 30G over here. I could buy 46 eskimos for that much money. I also agree with mr_woodster, most likely what happened was "hi friend I fell ass first into some money, take some away from...

Subframe install, what to watch out for

thanks, waiting for the weld is probably my best bet. Did anyone have problems/have to move any fuel or brake lines with their install? Thanks Jeff

Subframe install, what to watch out for

I got a set of subframes I'm going to install in the next couple days, any hints on what to watch out for on the installation. I'm going to bolt them in, then have a friend weld them on within a couple weeks. What I'm concerned about is that it looks like there are going to be issues with...

    I smell BS...

Hey gang lets hope in the mystery machine and figure this one out, lets just hope its not old man McAlister in a mask again. A/ Bavarian Speed Racer. Ok the 2.3L Ford is originally a german designed engine, but I doubt that's what he was getting at B/ DTM flywheel and exhaust. DTM is...

    F'd with by Ricers

I'm not going to especially bash on ricers because I've seen rich 16yr olds in 2003 Gt's swerving in and out of traffic, hell I was hit by a kid in a new GT back in 92-93 standing on a corner. It's just kids acting stupid because that's what they do, especially the kids so desperate to fit...

    Cheap, effective speed

If you got a complete car then the computer and wiring isn't a issue, only things like motor mounts and exhaust. A non-HO 5L probably wouldn't break a 7.5", they make less power then the old pre-8.8" 5L's (1985?). Handling would be crappola, I've been in a 5L with 2.3 suspension, it'll go...

    Cheap, effective speed

If you were donald trumps legitimate son, your last name would be trump too, and donald would just be senile and not recognize you (maybe a new haricut?). Anyways, how cheap is a cheap budget. I'm going the turbo route, but a piss water cheap way is to buy a crappy non-HO 5L like those found...

    Canada East Members rides

not much to look at but It's getting better Heres a pick of my car, 1990 2.3L. Not much to look at but I'm 23 going to school and doing what I can afford. As soon as the 25yr insurance drop happens, assuming I'm still happy with the car a 5L is going in. For now, getting the suspension...
