Any regrets going with a classic?

I have always said that once I lost interest in driving my 2000 I would sell it and get the car I always wanted, a 65 or 66 Fastback with a 351w. The time has really come, I have lost all interest in the newer stangs and spend most of my free time on the net reading up on the classics, bought...

Buy or Build? Which is wiser?

Excellent post! This is exactly why I will be buying a finished car and making it my own by adding and taking here and there. I do not have the skills or patience required for any type of body or paint work.

    1968 Shelby Black Hornet

Love the look minus the radio, just looks out of place IMHO

Yes, I want a fastback, it's been a dream of mine of some time. This is why I was thinking I needed to spend so much. I do see a few out there under 25 but they are usually 10 foot paint jobs or the underside has never been touched. I'm looking for show quality paint with zero rust......that...

    which wheels do you like?

#2 no question. As already said by another poster, there are other options other there that would compliment the car even better.

    It's Alive!

As a new edge owner I will say this......what you describe is the feeling I thought I would get owning any mustang but in my experience that's simply not the case. I hope to correct that with my next purchase :nice:

    1968 Shelby Black Hornet

I believe the factory color was called Raven Black and in 68 it was only available on the Shelby models.

I should clarify, I like the look of all the above, just prefer 65/66 fastbacks.

I would buy the right 65 but I guess I have never liked the instrument panel in 65 and thought I might go for a Hurtz G.T. 350H look down the road so the 66 seams like the best option for me. As for the 67 or 68, I just go back and fourth on the styling for those years. Some days I like it and...

I guess I'm afraid of buying something with poor body and paint work that shows up down the road. I have always just assumed these cars were more expensive to own. Is the GT version going to make any diff in price or is it only the Shelby cars that make any difference?

I don't want to do anything to the body or paint. I have enjoyed modding my 2000 so I would probably end up fine tuning with small bolt on upgrades like exhaust, brakes, suspension but that's about it. I would like a car with a fresh engine (maybe EFI) and trans, something in the 300 to 350 hp...

Average price for a clean 66 restomod

Hey guys, I've been going back and forth on selling my 2000 GT and picking up a clean restomod 66 or 68 fastback that I can drive once and a while and take to a few shows. I have spent hours looking online but there's several price ranges out there and I'm concerned about getting something that...

    Heat Shield Removal

I'm not running rich but the spacing around the drivers cat is really tight. When I stomp on it wouldn't that drivers cat move up and out a bit with the engine movement? If so, maybe that shield is making slight contact??

Man that's really disappointing if it is the cats, I paid so much for the h pipe and I haven't put that many miles on it. Is there any way to tell for sure?

    Heat Shield Removal

I believe the cats on the MRT are high flow Magnaflows. I never though about anything inside the cats, can you tell if you take the pipe off and shake it? The cats don't have many miles on them so I wouldn't think there should be any issues but I have seen stranger things happen.

Excellent point you make. I had a different exhaust noise last year that sounded like a leak that ended up being a loose plug. I check the plugs twice a year now and I have ruled it out this time.
