Am I just stupid? I think I may have totally screwed up

When I put the motor back together. The bottom end was not pulled apart; just heads, Cam, lifters, rockers, and intake (obviously). When I installed the Cam, I followed the instructions from comp cams to the "T" and everything seemed to be fine. After some electrical garbage the A-team from...

Comp Cams installation... are they for real?

LOL... funny how these threads come back up. I have a full roller block out of a 91 Cobra. The info on their site said that we should pull it apart and check for wear, whether it is a roller or flat tappet. I ran this info by a few shop owners last year, and they laughed their heads off. I...

    My Car

Little surprised to see how little the front has settled, granted its not a complete motor and I don't have the bellhousing or tranny, turbo, plumbing, or anything else needed for the car to run which will contribute to it settling. I just figure with the Shelby drop, and the drop spring I would...

    options for engine bay paint/coatings

I used Por-15, but it was pretty glossy, so I made the flippin huge mistake and sprayed all that work with a rattle can of high temp engine paint in semi-gloss black. Looks ok. Here is a picture of the entire underside in Por-15 so you can see a larger surface. I wish I didn't...

Battery drained inself??? How do I find out what is pulling the electricty?

Well, on the Explorer I have now. It sat in a garage unused for a solid year. When I dusted it off and turned the key it started right up, and that battery was the original from 1999. I don't think the computer uses much. I should be able to run some tests tomorrow night. I read up...

Battery drained inself??? How do I find out what is pulling the electricty?

Yup, it's a 3G. with all the old voltage regulator stuff pulled out. I didn't have time to put a meter in series with each fuse; but am I correct in saying that there should be zero voltage unless something is in use... i.e. interior lights, dash lights, blower motor or something? I will...

Battery drained inself??? How do I find out what is pulling the electricty?

No luck. When connecting the positive cable before I started the process, I didn't have one big spark; more like a bunch of very tiny one's. I pulled the Alternator connections first, no change. Then leaving that connection off, I pulled each fuse successively and there was no change. Still...

    AOD swap

I fabbed up my own shift linkage using the original. I just heated and rebent the old one and added a small piece of flat stock on one end that I later drilled out to slot it. I cut the bent/pinned end off the old linkage, and welded on the new piece. I have the measurements and the angles you...

Thanks for the tips. I will check using your suggestions on the Alt. and the fuses. Thanks

Battery drained inself??? How do I find out what is pulling the electricty?

I worked on the car a week ago. I had been taking the positive lead off during the week as I have only been able to work on wraping up the wiring loom on the weekends. I forgot it last weekend and when I came back today. The battery was dead, and I mean really dead. I brought it to Wal-Mart to...

    68 windshield wipers

Yup, removed the foot switch. Push it and it squirts the fluid and turns on the wipers for a cycle. I just put it up one the dash, removing the entire switch operated by foot.

    68 windshield wipers

I added a new washer box with electric pump, with a small push button (right by the switch lever) to wash. I also switched out the "squirters" by talking thin brass pipette, (got it from a local Ace), then I just used a thin screwdriver to pinch one end in the center. When I did the test to...

is it a bad idea to put the air filter directly on to the maf?

That's how I have mine? Still waiting on a tune from the performance shop, so I would like to see what others have to say as well. Never thought to ask, though I have an electric fan that has yet to turn on with the 3 row aluminum rad. up front, just tooling around the neighborhood?

    power steering idea???

Yup, you will, but the best way is to have a hydrolic shop just join the two pressure hoses for you. I went the fitting route, and the parts ended up costing me what the shop would have charged me. Besides, the hard line that attaches to the pump on the 5.0 is different from how...

power steering problem on 5.0 conversion

I used the Big Block hose routed under the cross member as well. Works great for me. Now if I just get the P/S pump to stop whining all the time. It's kind of cool though, sounds like I have a blower under the hood.:rlaugh:

air charge sensor ? on explorer intake

I would just drill and tap the boss on the front drivers side where it should be. I did mine and it was quite easy. But then again I also ported it myself, so I'm not sure how easy it is :D

    Long time, no post

Hey Blake, Nice ride! And welcome back. What company did you get the hood from? Looks like it fits perfect (it is fiberglass right?) I sometimes wish I would have done the 5.0 carbed, but I love the EFI too much.

    Have a good one!

I can honestly say that people with your knowledge, are hard to come by. I know virtually nothing about cars, but I have torn appart a few, rebuilt them and sold em'. The 'vert I am finishing up now would never have become the machine it is today had I not been able to tap into the knowledge...

K.A.R. Fiberglass quality? Anyone put thier newest units on?

Well, my son is working his grandmother, mother, cousins, Uncles and Aunts to just give him money for the hood. So funny. Looks like he will have about $200 in gift money, and I will throw in the rest. So now we are looking for the best quality we can get for around the $375-$450 range...

K.A.R. Fiberglass quality? Anyone put thier newest units on?

My son was a bit undecided; he liked the cowl hood first, but decided on the Shelby style when he saw another convertible with it. Thanks for the input 'spirockp'
