    HEIDT's Rear 4-Link& sub-frame connectors

Not in my garden, that's for sure :D I like the TCP craftmanship, but I think their rear suspension is a little more complex than necessary. Their Watts linkage pivot under the rear end housing is not my favorite either.

    HEIDT's Rear 4-Link& sub-frame connectors

Yeah, you're right. About the Martz rear suspension: I see that they have the coil overs moved inward quite a bit. That doesn't matter when the whole rear axle moves up and down and it's probably handy when you're installing huge tires, but the leverage of the springs is much reduced, so the...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Another modification which would be interesting is the welding/bolting a plate behind the rear seat. It would be cheap to make and almost invisible when everything's done. It makes a great firewall too. I've often seen it in race cars and I once read a torsional stiffness overview of BMW 3...

    HEIDT's Rear 4-Link& sub-frame connectors

I saw some pictures of it on www.corner-carvers.com ALthough it will probably work great once upgraded (maybe even without), I find it a little stupid that they didn't realize this in the first place. There seems to be a new suspension kit available all the time (at least two a month, it...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Mustbereel, Excellent post! The Export Brace does really well: flex is reduced by 25%. That the other parts help next to nothing is a little surprising, though. GraigMBA, The torque box doesn't seem to help, but I don't think that means that it's not worth the trouble. After all...

Just had the suspension and steering redone. WOW!!!!

Looks like the people at Lee spent more time on your steering box than on their website :D I guess that's a good thing :nice:

    Steering and Suspensin questions

You may want to start with just rebuilding/checking the stock suspension and make sure everything is correctly aligned/adjusted. The handling of these cars may not be impressive by today’s standard, but I feel that many times, the complaints come from parts that are worn, alignment that is off...

    Stock manifolds choking engine?

I think the stock single exhaust is your biggest restriction. Even stock dual exhaust systems have twice the flow capacity and even then they are far from overkill. Stock manifolds aren't helping things much either, but for your engine, you could consider Hipo manifolds. From what I've...

    1965 Fastback project.

The car looks great, but I agree with you on the hood. Perhaps a 67 Shelby style hood will look better? The widened rear quarters look nice. That is, you can hardly see it, yet it looks different.

18's really to big on a 65-66? pics inside!

I think 17's would look better (or actually, 16's, but I'm a bit conservative), but they do look nice. The fact that it's a beautiful car with a great stance also helps. Plus that they're grey/polished instead of chrome.

65-67 KH type disc brake parts

Do you know the name of the place? I definately don't need them, but I would sure like them :) Cobra Automotive makes them (as do others who are offering vintage racing parts). Not cheap though at $380 a pair. I started making my own, but I gave up and bought them instead. Now if I only find...

65-67 KH type disc brake parts

The parts look great. Aluminum would be nice (and popular). Or actually, I'd like aluminum versions of the bigger Lincoln/Thunderbird 4 piston Kelsey Hayes calipers. That's what I'm going to use (the cast iron versions that is) and is basically what they were using on the racing Boss 302's...

Anyone have a watts link ?

I see they're "Quick Connect" too, so it should be an easy install!

    Front End Alignment

I would use the same specs as recommended for cars with the Shelby drop. It's not so much the Shelby drop rather than modern radial tires that require the updated alignment specs. An alignment is basically a compensation for tire flex. Radial tires behave differently in this respect than the old...

Thoughts on the new CPP front suspension?

Adjusting the caster by moving the front pivot of the LCA inward puts it at an angle (compared to the car's centerline). Doesn't this put the bushings in a bind? I'm asking this, because I was reading a discussion the other day regarding bushing material for Fox/SN95 Mustang lower control arms...

    Six Gauge Instrument Cluster

That may be a problem, although they seem to fit in the Haneline and JME panels and they are straight.

    Six Gauge Instrument Cluster

I'm not a big fan of the "lips" under the speedo and tach on the bezel AZ Pete has. If it was just straight, I would have probably bought one too.

The "Mustang II" IFS Real Info & Debate Thread

Is it possible to use a Fox/SN95 rack? They're similar in design and may have better ratios and/or steering feel. The width is 24.5" (inner tie rod pivot center-center).

Saga of the Crown Vic Rear Discs

You mean on the axle? That's indeed the simplest, (but not easiest) and solves all problems. Mounting the calipers at 12 o'clock will most likely also put the bleeder screws in the wrong place, which makes it difficult to get the air out.
