    Sounds like one of those great aftermarket or reproduction sensors. They are terribly off. I had the same problem, found an NOS one, and temps are reading as expected.

    How accurate is NADA?

    Never use it as a buying guide. They lag too far behind what the true real world values are. I get a kick out of all the sellers on Ebay showing NADA in hopes of winning the lottery when they sell their car. The only thing I use it for is when I am estimating the agreed value of my insurance.

    How do you know that the tank wasn't replaced at some point with that tank that you are saying is painted. Unless you can show me a picture of a car that rolled off the factory floor with the gas tank painted black, I will stand by what has been said earlier.

    Marti Auto Works can get you a report on how it was originally made and where it was sold, but you cannot track the history without serious work on your part.
