    13's bolt-ons

your approach to this is all wrong in my opinion. You've already got the mph for 13's. You'll pick up way more with gears and stall converter than you will with intake. Nitrous will get you there without bolting anything else on to the car. Maximize your traction, eliminate weight and use the...

    Valve Body

replacing the valvebody is just removing bolts and reinstalling them. If this is the first time you are removing the pan and you don't have a drain plug in it, its going to be messy. There is a ton of fluid in the pan so have a big pan to catch it all. You'll need the car up in the air high...

AOD guys I need your help

You don't have to run it thru both but for cold weather driving it would probably help to get the fluid up to temp quicker. But in summer driving and strip use, you run the cooler by itself to help keep the coolant from heating up the fluid just that little bit extra.

AOD guys I need your help

It is also a good idea to install a bigger aftermarket trans cooler to help cool the fluid. B&M makes some of the better ones out there and the price is reasonable. A higher stall will heat the fluid more so cooling it will help with longevity.

Lunati 51014 or Stock Cam with 1.7's?

I'm running that exact cam in my 331. With 1.7's. No idle issues at all with chip. Make sure you check for piston/valve clearance.

Ive bitten my tongue long enough

just thought i would throw my 2 cents in here. You mentioned that you changed the heads and tires then ran it. That really makes it hard to do a 1-1 comparison. That being said, what kind of suspension mods have you done to the car? Is the stall a lockup or non lock? What rpms are you shifting...

time for a new torque converter?

www.edgeracingconverters.com Call Andre and talk to him. He will spend as much time as it takes to explain everything their converters have in them and what you need for your car. They make awesome stuff and their customer service is excellent. I'm sure he can come up with something for your setup.

What the hell was Ford thinking??

John; congrats on wanting to take the car to the track. My best friend is paralized and is dying to get into something fast so he can take it to the track. Don't forget the AOD was designed to work in Lincolns and Grand Marquis and little old grandma doesn't like neck snapping shifts and wants...

    2400-2600 stall too little?

Dragn; couple of questions for you. What brand of converter do you have in the car now? Would it be possible to remove it and send it back to the manufacturer to be restalled. Most will do it for free for the first year and for a fair price after a year. The other thing you have to remember if...

How much will 3:73's and a shift kit affect my times?

and don't forget that traction may become a problem now with the steeper gears.

    2400-2600 stall too little?

What is Andre recommending? 2600-2800 would probably be a pretty decent setup unless you plan on doing more racing than freeway driving. If you want racing, go 3000.

    Is my torque convertor shot????

Sounds more like a valvebody problem but thats just a guess. Also did you just reinstall the trans when you got the motor in? Is the torque converter seated all the way in? It takes several turns and clicks to make sure all the input splines are lined up. Is the cabel connected at the throttle...

    Transmissions In A 91 Lx 5.0

The only auto trans offered on the 91 was an AOD. The aod-e didn't show up until 94.

    Better Vert ET w/welfare budget

Good tire choice going with that tall 29" tire. It should be okay and with lockup that will increase the range with your rpm's at the track. I know when i was running mine lockup it would absolutely kill my rpm's when it locked up in third. I was going thru the traps at around 4300 on a 26"...

    Better Vert ET w/welfare budget

that is a ton of gear for that car. You are going to run out of rpm's way before you get to the end of the track and whatever you do, don't shift into OD or you can kiss that OD band goodbye. I'd seriously think about selling the gears for something like a 4.10 set up. If you can find some cash...

How much power can a built AOD handle?

If you'd like to use 2nd gear more you'll need to go to a different valvebody in the aod. Give www.lentechautomatics.com a look. They have a nice semi-manual valvebody that will shift the trans itself when you feel lazy or use it like a full manual when you race. This allows the shift pattern to...

AOD or C-4 ...??? whats your thoughts??

You might want to give Lentech a call and ask them about their valvebodies. They really take alot of stress off the internals. They've got AOD's living behind 9 second cars. A hardended input shaft would really help too. Give Baumann or Transgo a look for shift kits. An added benifit of the...

    Ford Racing HD Transmission cooler

I'm not 100% sure on the size but I believe it should be around 3/8. The easiest way to hook all this up is to remove the hard lines from the trans and then push your rubber lines over the flared ends. The flares will help hold the lines on but you'll need some hose clamps. Double up on them to...

vids where i finally sprayed the 90shot

Flamed? not a chance of that. Good job Scott on getting into the 11's with so few mods. Makes me think of doing the juice but not really looking to put a cage in the car just yet.
