being told 2 different thing about a rear end

I can't find any proof real quick, but.... Ultrastang says his measurements are axle flange to axle flange. The other site doesn't specify, but it's a direct copy of info I saved some years ago (can't remember from where) and my memory (such as it is) says those measurements are wheel flange to...

    Manual brake master cylinder

Cool. Glad you found the problem. Driveline vibration? Don't talk to me about driveline vibration: drive shaft broken in two and collateral damage

    Manual brake master cylinder

No, the swap I keep refering to is a '65. I just happened to have a '67 MC sitting around (years ago I was gonna use it to get a dual system. Never did). I threw the '65 MC in the trash without ever comparing anything. Buit the NAPA Granada MC worked with its supplied rod. FWIW, Dennis

    Manual brake master cylinder

If you have the discipline (something I never had) do one change at a time and try it out. I always get in a hurry and do a bunch of things at once, and don't know what did what. :) Later, Dennis

    Manual brake master cylinder

No, I can definitely say that I used the rod supplied with the Granada MC when I did mine, so that ain't it. In fact, I checked it next to the '67 dual MC I had on the bench and it was the same. So there ya go. Later, Dennis

    clutch cable kit

I had the same problem. No amount of adjusting would help. It turned out the release lever was hitting the forward edge of the belhousing opening.I solved it by removing the ball stud pivot and placing a washer behind it to put it a little closer to the clutch, so it could release earlier...

    A Hitch For a 70 Mustang?

A close friend used a '68 GT 500 KR to tow his dragster to the track. He ran low 13's with the Shelby, then towed the dragster back home. This was before the Shelby was considered a classic, though.

    Manual brake master cylinder

Steve, I agree that there is nothing resembling the "duck billed" rpv inthe comb valves. On top of that, numerous articles I've read (especially during the last couple days :) ) make no mention of it at all. You think then that it's just kinda been decided it's not necessary at all? I've never...

    Manual brake master cylinder

Since you didn't use the comb valve, I think you're still going to need a metering valve. Master Power Brakes has one, big $. Stainless Steel Brakes doesn't list any. Summit doesn't list them. Here's one on eBay, and ECI lists one. I think if it was me, I'd put the RP valve in and see if it...

    Manual brake master cylinder

Hmmm.... All the tech articles I've read say an RPV is necessary for drum brakes for 2 reasons: 1) to overcome the tension of the return spring 2) to keep the cup shaped seals in the wheel cylinder pushed against the walls so air can't be sucked past and into the system. I never checked...

    Manual brake master cylinder

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I wanted to make sure of what I thought I remembered. 65fastbackretro, I don't think your problems are with the MC. Your symptoms (soft pedal, next to the floor) sound like this: Quoting from http://www.thebrakeman.com/valvetechi , "We may as well start with...

    Manual brake master cylinder

Shoot, did I click on the wrong one? I meant part # TS 101602. The power brake MC is TS 101614. Go to napaonline, and look for a mc for '77 or so granada. they show one at the top of the page and the next one is for power brake. I just went to my local NAPA and asked for a mid-seventies MC. It...

    Manual brake master cylinder

I bought the entire High Zoot Mustang Steve set-up: http://www.mustangsteve.com/cable.html #CK265M at the bottom of the page. MC is not included, he recommended 2006 6cyl Mustang, so I used that. The power booster will not fit in the factory mounting holes, which is one reason I used the...

    Manual brake master cylinder

This is the one I used. It worked fine for about 2 years, I removed it to do 4 wheel power discs. http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=TS&PartNumber=101602&Description=Brake+Master+Cylinder+-+Remfd

?'s RE: Crown Vic rear for 68 coupe

Not a very good one, I'm afraid. I bought my stuff from a local junk yard that wouldn't let me pull the parts myself, so I bought the entire rear end to make sure I knew how stuff came apart. I also bought 4 16" cop car wheels while I was at it. $350 for everything. You should probably figure on...

?'s RE: Crown Vic rear for 68 coupe

You're welcome. :dead: I did this swap on my '65, and it was really pretty easy and straight forward. I also ended up with Mustang Steve's roller pedal ass'y and booster. If I had it to do over, I think I'd forego the booster. YMMV, Dennis

?'s RE: Crown Vic rear for 68 coupe

Hi, Guys. I know I should introduce myself before posting, but I think I need to respond here. If you are interested in rear discs, the 95 CV is a good donor. Here's a thread with some useful info: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=717933&highlight=crown+vic Here's a write-up...
