2.3L breakin goes bad, lifter noise

There should be NO play in the lifters when they have pumped up. It will hurt nothing to run the motor for a few minutes more if it takes that to pump em up. What oil ya using? I will advise you that you wanna take that car out on the road for an easy drive soon now that initial ring seat...

Taking block to machine shop, what to ask for?

The cylinders need to be honed regardless. A fine stone is used for this and produces the finished surface.

    Nocking Noise from engine

Ok then first off double-check the oil level... look at it after the car has been sitting overnight so you know there is no oil in the dipstick tube to catch on the stick and throw you off. Next... Did you change the filter too? If so what was the new one you used?

    HELP!!! Interior swap questions

The wiring is not the same between 87-89 and 90-93 models. If you use the 92 dash, gauges, etc. you also need a 90+ steering column which was non-tilting and meant for the airbag wheel. MAYBE you can get an 87-89 column in but I don't think parts line up right. I would get the correct dash if...

Are YOU going to finance my purchase of a truck just for winter driving? Considering that I have neither the money nor space for an extra vehicle, and can get around quite well in snow when aforementioned weight is added and the proper tires are used. Since when was a Mustang not a...

Yep. I do have a 4-cylinder car. It's called a Mustang. These are not sports cars. They are basic cars with an optional V8 engine, built and sold by Ford with the original purpose of having a pleasant cruise down to the store. I do like them for their looks and simplicity, and certainly...

I agree that the crossmembers are of poor design. However, Ford needs only to take peices of plate steel, stamp them, punch out holes, and spot-weld together to produce each stock k-member. Tubular crossmembers require pipe to be rolled and cut to length, along with bits of plate steel, and many...

Corvettes have an all-aluminum engine, aluminum frame and some kind of fiber body panels. Good luck trying to sell that to Ford who is trying to build these things cheaply. Strength is not the ONLY reason these cars should be heavier. Any rear wheel drive car that weighs less than 3500-4000...

    Transmission Noise

Describe it some more. Does it go klunk-klunk-klunk as you come to a stop? Is it in sync with engine speed or wheel speed?

That allows changes to the climate controls while cruising under low vaccuum. It does nothing for the brakes.

    1.9 L engine problems Help please !

Yea I really don't know about that compression, no way a motor is leaking air through a bad head gasket that fast, and the oil about doubled compression, I don't know what's going on with the rings but something ain't right. Even if you took the head off you still wouldn't get a look at the...

I don't agree with that. Ford fixes the flimsy peice of trash that the 87-93 Mustang was built on, and all people can do is piss and moan about the extra 300lbs. My car won't be good enough for me until it has about 500 pounds of chassis reinforcement. Not to mention that the car actually...

Engines make torque REGARDLESS of speed. Horsepower is a result of torque and engine speed. Without torque, there is NO horsepower.

Five kilowatts to turn that leaf-blower. Don't forget to invest in a generator set and a trailer to haul it on.
