    I would pull the starter. Any good store can test it for you. A smoking starter, hot wires all sound like a fried starter.

    Most carbs have a place to hook the pcv to. Some thing about evenly distributing the oil fog to all cylinders instead of one or two back ones. The passenger side would have a hose to your air cleaner with a filter, if you have to worry about emmission inspections. If not just use a breather cap.

    fuel guage trouble

    Make sure you have your sender has a good ground. Most of the time I found the 40 year old brass floats to be the problem. You can also test out of the tank. Just be sure to get a new gasket and to be safe I like to use a new retainer.

    302 coupe is right , the blocks are the same. Your crank should have 4U or 4UA cast in if it is a 429 crank. If it is 460 crank it will begin with the number 2 or 3 with several letters after.

    You didn't say what year 351. Your 289 balancer and flywheel have 28 oz. imbalance and I think in 76 went to 50 oz.
