    Boost ?????

I would have to agree. That's pretty steep compression. I've swapped heads to larger chambers, and lowered compression in the past with success to allow for small amounts of boost.

Hypereunetic (sp) pistons and boost..yes or no?

Nope. Not for very long. A bad tank of gas on a hot day while getting "it on" the freeway is about all that it would take before there would be issues. One of my old engines was 10:1 hypers, and I got greedy. I installed a 6 lb blow-through on it, retarded the timing to about 9 initial, 28...

Sorry, I haven't personally used it. I've had good luck with Crane solid state ignitions.

how much tq can the frame take

I have subframes welded in, and have not seen any waves or wrinkles in the body with a number of hard launches. To be sure, I put a roll bar in to help keep everything stiffened. 590 ft. lbs. at the rear wheels. The math comes out to some crazy number like 708 ft.lbs. at the flywheel through a...

    Charging Problem

Load up the alternator by turning on the fan to HIGH, headlights, etc., and see if the voltage remains at or above 12v. Then unload it by turning everything off, and see if it creeps up to 14-15v or so. Glad it's working for you.

    Charging Problem

[In my mind (and trying to decipher the wiring diagram) the green/red wire should be on the top connection and the stator connection on the alt should go to the third (S) connector. Is this correct? When I put a meter on the battery with the motor running it was reading 17 volts or so and one...

Newbie with a couple of quick questions

Ensure that the float level in the carburetor is correct. If it is too low, it will slosh and uncover the jet, starving the engine for fuel, until the turn or bump is completed, and the fuel sloshs back to cover the jet. The vaccum hose.....couldn't tell you without seeing it. The brake...

Ready to throw my holley out..

I know it sounds pretty basic, but make sure the correct metering block gasket is used. There are very subtle differences between many of them, and if the incorrect one is used fuel will be channeled to the wrong areas. Also on some of the older holleys, 2 metering block gaskets will take up...

Thinking of going turbo on a stroker motor...

I like it. Good article. I agree with all his 4 reasons. But his reason 3 is biased- @ 3K RPM you really don't want to be into the boost, but it's good to have 500 ft lbs @ 3000(my dyno showed only 488 ft lbs rear wheel @ 3000 RPM) Reason 4 is also biased. It does not address the lag present...

Thinking of going turbo on a stroker motor...

Generally, either power adder will not boost the induction charge above atmosheric pressure until the RPM is accelerating,(with the exception of flat out throttle settings,--exceptions of course with wastegate positioning and many Roots positive displacement blowers). I guess I really don't...

    Road course suspension upgrades?

I had installed factory 69 disc prior to the Baer, and the 12" Baer kit requires the drum spindles, (for mounting the Baer caliper), so your spindles will be fine. I found the kit to be very complete-there's not very much to it-right down to the copper crush washers for the stainless brake line...

stock rear susp. and alot of torque

You may want to consider reinforcing the spring perches on the axle housing. Some small gussets welded fore and aft is a good precaution. Mine were crushed under some hard lauches and acceleration, and rolled the axle up on the springs

    Road course suspension upgrades?

Historic Mustang, is your rear suspension on leaf springs, and if so have you found the need for a panhard bar? Curious, thanks. P.S.-- NICE CAR.

    Pistons and floating pins

I'm sorry. You're right. I thought we were discussing piston pin design advantages, as shaggy first asked. Next time I'll just post a short answer, as I intially did,...without going into reasons why. I'm sure that will be easier to read without a lengthy anal explanation. No flame...

    Pistons and floating pins

A TRUE full floating piston pin is NOT held in place in the piston pin bosses with spirolocks, or anything else. The pin FLOATS in and out and is prevented from causing damage to the cylinder wall by nylon,(or now-a-days teflon coated aluminum), plugs. Does plug contact the cylinder wall?? Yes...
