Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

If you have the original IAC motor on a higher mileage car the idle hunting seems to be a common problem. I have found that simply pulling off the IAC motor and hosing it out with cleaner helps it out a lot. My '90 vert that I just got this year had this problem so bad that it would actually...

If it runs OK and they stopped leaking then why fix something that isnt broke ?? I would just drive on them. Especially if you plan to build up next year.

Fram :notnice: Motorcraft :nice: I changed the oil on my car once and used the fram filter. When I started it it immediately started knocking like hell so I pulled the filter off and also had no oil in it. I put on a motorcraft one and it ran like a champ. I'm not sure what the...

For those who have installed lower intakes - Silicone or block end gaskets?

I used the RTV on my ends and no leaks. I guess if it is the stock intake and you want to use the end seals, the rubber ones are best. Dont use the crappy cork ones. Also, if you have an aftermarket intake then you have to use RTV.

    >>> How to remove my front springs<<<

I took my springs into the shop and had them compress and then strap them. Once I set them into the car and bolted everything in I just cut the straps. Worked perfect.

Starter Hangs Up After Starting Every Time

:stupid: There are two wires coming from your starter to the solenoid. Make sure the big one is on the side of the solenoid that the battery comes to and the smaller wire is on the other side. If you have them both on the same side then it will hang. I did this by mistake too.

    Car Will Not Start

Definitely sounds fuel related. Almost seems like there may be water in the gas. I would change the filter and put in some drygas.

Hi There!! Newbie with a Hot question.

This may sound stupid but I bought a car that was overheating too. The guy put on a fan for an older mustang which was blowing air out the front of the radiator when running and not sucking it in. The serpantine belt ones go the other way. Make sure your fan is blowing the air the right way.

How To Remove Oil Pan While Engine is in Car?

Un-bolt the mounts from the crossmember. Jack up the engine and stick a block of wood beneath the mounts and the crossmember to hold it up. Sometimes you have to reach in and un-bolt the pickup before you can wiggle the pan out. I'm sure once it is off your problem will be obvious.

The rubber ones are the standard ones. They give a soft ride. The heavy duty ones are polyurethane they are more for performance/handling. All the bushings for the arms are the same size whether they are heavy duty or not. Just a matter of preference.

    Possible Tweaked Vert (Need Advise)

They have reinforcements riveted to the unibody but they are nowhere near as stiff as a hard top. They twist and flex every which way over uneven roads. Full-length subframes will make a huge difference.

    Registration (insuring) and inspection questions.

No you dont need an inspection to get it registered and insured. If I am picking a car up from somewhere I usually insure it just for the trip.
