AMP Light - what exactly does it indicate?

Last week, the AMP light came on, and it has been on and off over the last week of driving. Seems that if I get going for a while without stopping it goes off. Around town, the light comes back on for most of the time. My volt gauge is showing a notch over the middle line. Today I checked the...

    Timing Cover Seal Help

I have done it with the engine in the car. It's not too bad, just takes a bit of time to get everything stripped down to that point. The hardest part for me what just tightening it back up. My oil pan gasket just would not stay in place. It kept on sliding out towards the front of the car. I...

    Ranger Header is in

Great, glad to hear you're happy with it! Many people are anti-Ranger header, but I tell ya, it does make a difference. I think for the price, it is a great option. Sure, you could get a bit more power from a longtube, but that's a lot of work. Not bolt in. James - I don't know about Dan's...

    Progress.. With Pics!

I'm using the TC pan since my N/A pan was kinda boogered up and I didn't feel like messing with it anymore. I put my return line about 1" from the top - where it bolts to the block. I found the pictures - check this out.

    Progress.. With Pics!

Looks good so far! Do yourself a favor and go ahead and tap the oil pan for an oil return line. There is so little room in there, even working with the stock line is a pain. I ran a -10 AN line to a fitting on the right front corner of my oil pan. Makes removing the turbo MUCH easier!

    alt's good still no charge?!?!?!?!?

Check the water in the battery before you go out and buy a new one. At school, some girl's Jeep was not charging.. finally determined that the alternator was good, so we checked the water in the battery. When it was all said and done, we had added just over 1/2 of a gallon!! That fixed the...

My goal for a turbo build, what would it take?

It's about the journey, not the destination :D Seriously, tho.. When I am driving my car, I am constantly thinking about what would happen if I changed something else. It seems as if something is wrong if I am not working on the car all the time. Plus, it's great that I've done it all myself -...

Will the T5 from a 5.o work in the 2.3 turbo?

lol I did, actually.. My 3.73 R&P was shot. The pinion gear was missing chunks from 2 or 3 teeth! I thought that since a turbo engine liked having load on it, I decided I would try the 3.55. It would be pretty decent for street only driving, but 3.55 sucks for autocross. So, back to 3.73 it is...

Will the T5 from a 5.o work in the 2.3 turbo?

Ok.. quit speculating and read a bit on TurboFord. I think you'll find many answers to your questions in the following threads: V8 T5 Installed (Especially see post by JLockhart) Transmissions 3.73's, 4.10's or 4.30's? Which to choose Ok, you get the idea.. I don't feel like searching...

    Heater Core

So now do you turn on the A/C for heat? Is that all there is to it? I'm kind of in the same situation as you. I did my core, but it still isn't all that warm until the car has been going for 20 or 30 mins. (Yes, the engine is up to temp.) Nex time the heater core goes south, I will probably move...

    Turbo Fuel Mileage

Highway mileage is about the same for me at 20 to 30, but intown mileage had dropped as expected :D I usually get 18 to 20 in town because I am addicted to boost and cannont keep my foot out of it no matter how hard I try. :D

    Turbo Fuel Mileage

Last I checked I got right at 30mpg. 181 miles in 6 gallons. I'm running a 3.55 rear with 255/45/17s. I stayed out of boost mostly, but did get into it a few times. Was going about 65-70 mph most of the time.

My goal for a turbo build, what would it take?

Wow, lots of questions all at once, but I know how you feel. Wasn't long ago since I was searching for the answers to many of those questions. I'll comment on the items that I have knowlege or opinion on. 6 speed is a bit much, IMHO.. I race autox, and mine's a 5spd T5 with a 3.55 rear end...

Want to rotate intake....Alt. in the way

As mentioned, I have Bob's rotated upper. It's at roughly 120 degrees. He does awesome work, it's worth the money. Speaking of the alternator, today i fabbed a bracket to move the alt over to where the A/C used to be :D Just gotta shim one side out a bit, extend the wiring harness, and get...

Great pic of Brantley's car from the autox yesterday

Not quite sure, Bill already put those springs in before I bought the car from him. I'm guessing around a 2" drop or so. It's a bit too low with the 17" rims, IHMO. I'd like to raise it up a bit, but it works for now. I do like the way it looks, tho. Tires are Kumho Ecsta 711s. Rears are...

So how many 2.3Turbos do we have in here?

Only track time has been on the autox course :) I'll eventually get 'er to the strip, but it might not do too well due to the suspension setup. Right now I'm just getting it to run correctly and reliably. It's mostly there, but there's still a few bugs. Got a small valve cover leak and more...

Great pic of Brantley's car from the autox yesterday

I emailed the guy who took those pics.. he sent me 3 pics that he had, and in high res! Check them out: Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 The race was a blast.. Had a great time hanging out with James and Kerry. That Jetta was crazy. At one point he got it up on 2 wheels! The course was so tight that I...

Mine fit fine.. came within 0.75" of fuel lines, but did not hit them.
