Lifter wont go all the way into the bore?!?!?1

Your first step should be to turn the crank in order to move the affected cam lobe to the lowest level. Lube the lifter with some motor oil and drop it into the hole. If it does not drop down until it is almost level with the lifter valley, try rotating the lifter. If that still does not work...

    help with lifters

 No mallet!! Sometimes my favorite philosophy works (If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.) but it is by no means warranted in this situation. Do Bullitt347 recommended. If a different lifter does not fit, it is a problem with the block and you...

    1/4 MPH vs. Air Temp

25 degrees is significant and 15 degrees only slightly less so. However, I would bet most of your variances can be attributed to inconsistency rather than atmospheric conditions. If you ran identical runs on a 65 degree day versus a 90 degree day you will see a larger gap than the 0.05 second...

Need help fast! Fixed head gaskets and now won't start

Did you remove the dizzy? Sounds an awful lot like the symptoms experienced when the dizzy is 180 out.

    comp. ratio for supercharging

Be very cautious if you intend to run with this setup. Regardless of what some people experience, damage may occur even when detonation is not noticed aurally. FYI, a ratio of 10:1 @ 6psi will net 14.1:1 (16.8:1 @ 10psi). A maximum of 12.4:1 is normally recommended for 92 octane unleaded. As...

    Motor Swap

It all depends on how much tweaking you wish to do. You can swap the entire engine provided you ensure ECU compatibility and are able to wade through the electronics. Your biggest issue will be differing electrical connectors.

    Motor Mount ?

Yes, they work. As you suggested, they're generally stiffer due to the lack of bracing on the roof.

    Torco Accelerator Race Fuel

Do you have some sort of tweecer which will allow you to take advantage of the higher octane levels?

    Fuel gauge

I assume you are referring to the stock fuel gauge? If your sender is good and there are no breaks in the connection prior to the gauge itself, your gauge decided to kick the bucket. I'm not intimately familiar with the '88 but I would assume it is virtually impossible to check the gauge as it...

    torque specs wrong? snapped bolt

15 lbs sounds correct to me and much too light to break your average bolt. It is likely that one of your bolts was cracked from years of usage. It's rather odd to get a breakage on the thrust plate though since there isn't a whole lot of force experienced. Did it break while doing final...

    Best cruise speed for mpg?

Without getting too terribly in depth with theoretical engineering, the answer to your question is yes. The Ideal Gas Law (PV=nRT) is pretty much the basis for the algorithms in the ECU. In effect, this law allows us to determine the amount of usable air in the cylinder for a given pressure...

    Best cruise speed for mpg?

It's simply a matter of drag. Idling in your highest gear will net you the highest fuel economy. Anything above that will be using additional energy to overcome wind resistance (i.e. drag) and thus will consume more fuel.

    Octane and Compression Ratio...SCHOOL ME

Be advised that with 7 lbs of boost your final compression will be 14.5:1, well above the recommended limit for pump gas. You may run into detonation problems.

    SBC in fox

I don't know about stronger but they are definitely cheaper. There is something to be said about the genius behind making cookie cutter engines like Chevy did. Smart engineering if you ask me.

I would guess Jegs or Summit would have an oil pan sufficient for your application. I would first experiment with the K-member so you can get some accurate measurements for the pan. That way you only have to buy one pan and not have to deal with trial and error fitting. The stock 350 motor...

    10% ethanol??

Right on the money there. I'm originally from South Dakota where we have used an ethanol blend for years. There is a bit of controversy as to reliability and all that. I can tell you from experience that there are more problems with ethanol than pure gasoline during periods of extreme cold...

How much could MY car benefit from the MSD 6AL?

"Only" 7 psi boost is actually quite significant in combustion chamber dynamics. Depending on your N/A compression levels, you could be experiencing some fairly extreme compression with "only" 7 psi. With high compression comes the need for strong electronics. Ford did pretty darn good with...

    SBC in fox

Well, you've got the right idea. I'm not sure if anybody manufactures a k-member which works so you may need to do a bit of cutting and welding yourself. The motor mounts and oil pan are a given as they are part of the engine. The bellhousing obviously would need to mate to whatever xmsn you...

    Rollbar padding question

I have no pictures available at the moment, but it's pretty self explanatory: if your head can even possibly hit it while sitting in the driver's seat, wrap it. I wrapped the crossbar between seats, all three upper bars, the bar along the door, and even the bar behind the seat. Remember, they...
