    Engine Upgrades to withstand high HP

    One suggesting I have is to plan your upgrades wisely. Some upgrades will make others obsolete. For example, if you were to get a complete Saleen Blower kit, and already have a CAI and Upper pulleys, they become useless as the kit replaces them. At least you can still go to the track. Ah well.

    Big Stall Converter for S197 GT Automatics

    I have the TCI 3000 Streetfighter that is still in the box. I ordered it before my current mods. Problem is that I was told the converter may not work well with my mods, especially the Saleen. I guess it's EBay time.

    Mod ??

    Properly tuning an auto really does wonders to the shift points, not to mention the SOTP feeling. A tune on a bone stock GT feels like a totally different car. Definitely worth it.

    People have been quoting around 450 or so. Some have pushed to 500 before it gave out. I would definitely not try to push 500 unless you have some $$$ to beef it up. And don't ask me what I am at right now :).

    borla universal mufflers??

    Borla Stingers are great. No welding needed. Just remove and replace. Make sure you WANT your car to sound mean, don't care about exhaust drone. and don't live in California (it won't pass inspection).

    auto or stick??

    I completely agree with Cerwindel. A properly tuned Auto is a thing of beauty when the right shift point are loaded. A human can't beat a computer in shifting at the exact time. However, stick is fun on the road.

    I had a similar problem when I had the JLT II CAI. I had installed it improperly and the intake tube wasn't fully connected with the TB or it could have been the air filter not clamped properly.     I'm lucky to get 14 MPG on my GT with the mods I have in my sig. And this is with a 93 octane tune! I wouldn't change a thing. V8 alllllllllllllll the way, baby!

    Losing my tune?

    Yeah I just realized after rereading the thread again. I've definitely noticed the loss of power before tune. After Doug's 93 torque tune, I really haven't felt it.

    The Borla Stingers have a drone from 1950-2100 RPM. And not a little drone. It's LOUD! But, I don't mind it very much. Sounds sweet though!

    Love my stingers. Yes they are loud. Wait, make that earsplitting. One reason I can't drive in Cali, but since in my the NorthEast, don't really matter.
