thoughts on this retro roller cam

Hi Mate, Check with Probe. I'm running similar heads and these pistons:

    65' motor ticking/knocking

Hi, Outside of re-torquing the exh. manifolds, you might pull both covers and watch the valve train action at idle. Look for similar rhythmic actions for each. Check that all push rods are flowing oil. Also, It's quit possible the noise will gradually go away if the lifters are not fully pumping...

    uh oh... inner rockers.

Hi Duke, I guess you do know you'll need to remove that seat pan, as well. Regarding the torque boxes, When I opened mine up, there was so much rust inside flaking a lying on the bottom, there was no doubt I was going to replace them. However, I did one side at a time as I didn't have any braces...

    uh oh... inner rockers.

yep! That looks like the repairs I made to both sides of my early 65 vert. Both torque boxes, both toe boards, both floors, left frame rail beneath the drives floor, left rear outer wheel house, rear taillight panel, left trunk panel and drop off. UGH! But looking back, it was worth. It looks...

    Installing HEI distributor... problems

Hi, I don't run a HEI, but,I found this it might be a start. "If you have an HEI Distributor, it could be three things that will cause a no spark situation. A bad coil, faulty electronic module or a bad magnetic pickup coil. You need a good multimeter to test the coil and electronic module. When...

    Air In Fuel Line

Hi, Don't think replacing the vac cap had anything to do with "air bubbles in the fuel". However, it will have improved your engines idle characteristics, depending on it's intended usage. Glad to hear of your success!

how to adjust high idle Holley (electric choke)

Hi, The fast idle cam and adjustment mechanism, along with the choke system are only operational when the engine is cold. As the engine warms, the choke bi-metal spring act's on the fast idle cam, in such away, as to reduce the RPMs to your normal curb idle speed. If really interested in...

    blowing smoke :(

OK, ... Thinking along the lines of oil burning. Since it appears, you're not leaving a smoky trail while cruising, this rules out ring issues per-Se. Accelerating away from a light leaving a trail is a classic indication of bad/worn seals. Your cold cranking compression numbers seem pretty...

    blowing smoke :(

Hi, Well, white'ish smoke is a classic coolant burning color. You stated it happens at "take-off". If it were blue'ish, I'd be thinking seals. But those Viton posi-seals are an excellent choice for the intakes. Does it "go away" while cruising? Are you running a coolant recovery system? If you...

What is the right proportioning valve for my 68 stang?

Hi, Didn't the later model distribution blocks have a proportioning valve built into their distribution blocks? Also, as well as, the some of the later model M/Cs having residual valving built-in to them. It seems to me, I re-call reading about this. The valving is necessary to insure no rear...

One Wire Alternator with MSD Ignition

Hi, I suspect, you have an incorrect wiring issue somewhere. I have run a one wire ALT with a Mallory Hy-Fire (same basic program) without fault in my Etype for a number of years. I had an ALT failure after 8 years of service. Re-check your MSD wiring. As you know, most all of the CD box mfg's...

    mod motor in classic

Hi, That's an interesting mod, if you are into it. Probably a few simple measurements will suffice. Is it a modular motor?

    Air In Fuel Line

Hi, I may have missed this comment, but, did you remove the fuel inlet at the carb and crank the engine to check the pumping capability of the system? If you have a healthy stream at that point, then, I'd check the factory mesh filter inside the inlet connection at the carb and the float level...

    Performer cam and Mallory Unilite

Hi, You have two ways to go.... contact Edlelbrock support or go with a bronze gear. My guess is the cam is cast and not steel. Thus, a cast gear can be used. Good luck.

3 Point Seatbelts in a Coupe

Hi, I installed them in my cvt. Although the should belt angle is not optimum, they work very well. For me, they are better than the alternative. I've read were guys have installed them in coupes and 2+2s and get a better belt angle as you have over head "iron work" to attach the upper belt...

    haven't ran engine in a while ..?

Hi, If it's only been a couple of months, personally, I would simly remove the plugs and cycle the engine to bring the oil pressure up and flowing to the rockers. Replace the plugs and fire it up and let it run to reach it's operating temp. My car is in storage all winter with a battery...

    Dumb C4 Question

Hi, A vac leak in the line to the modulator could prevent the up shift. When running a C4, I had an instance wherein, I had no up-shift. Once I got the car home, I found the short rubber hose between the hard line and the mod. was cracked. Replaced, "life is good" . Good Luck!
