Exhaust Question for 2008 Mustang GT

i suggest you get LT's instead of shorties, better gains from LT's. but any header you get, you should get them ceramic coated, helps w/ heat and discoloration, the extra money for the ceramic coating is money well spent. magnapacks, stingers, M80's would all sound good w/ that combo.

    MPG improvements.???

i dont worry about mpg's at all. what i get is what i get. city=12-14; highway 18-22. to save gas i drive my mazda truck to work, but in the GT it's not about mpg's.

OK......Who is the Man for a Custom tune?

+1 to that. w/ your mods you'll be fine w/ a mail order tune. i have a email tune from VMP for my whipple and it is great. bama and brenspeed are good too. i dont think the dyno tune will get you much more power for the extra money. if you have a power adder or cams then a dynotune would be...

    How much RWHP?

how much psi is that? a safe psi is 10 or less, some say 12 is ok too, but ultimately it's your car and you have to make a decision that you can live with. i have a stock bottom end and whipple @ 9 psi, personally i like to keep it around 450 rwhp just to be safe.

Mythbuster: LT headers/PP on forced induction. Gain or no gain?

i have a friend w/ a whippled terminator and stock exhaust except for borla catback. he put in some LT's and o/r x pipe. he gained 10 rwhp and lost 2 psi, went from 17 to 15. he has less compression and less strain on the engine w/ a slight increase in power. i would say that is a good deal...

Does this 06 have a Xpipe? ( pics inside )

looks to me like a splice in universal x pipe and those are not bassani AB, looks like GT take offs.

    Interesting info on Boomtubes

at first i couldnt figure out what the rattle was. i tried shaking the exhaust, nothing. checked all the clamps, they were all tight as could be. checked clearance and it wasn't an issue. then i hit the boomtubes with my hand, and there was the rattle. i would here it when driving my dads...

    Interesting info on Boomtubes

i have had the boomtubes since 07 there is no packing material. heres what the inside looks like. i recently took them off, and welded in some M80's and MBRP muffler deletes out back. i just put the old boomtubes on my dad's mustang, and there is rattling from the baffles coming loose...

    Intake cleaning

sure it is not necessary to clean the intake, but it will get dirty in time, everything will. your drivers manual doesnt say to clean your engine area at regular intervals, but i bet alot of us do it anyways. i had a catch can but took it out bc i like the look of my breathers now better...

    2008 ZO6 vs 2008 GT500KR

the vette will outperform the mustang, no question. but i would still get the mustang. why? bc i'm a mustang guy. i dont need all that performance. if anything i would mod it for the 1/4 mile, but i dont care about auto cross or road racing, going straight is all that matters to me.

    Intake cleaning

i clean my intake w/ carb cleaner 2x/year. just shoot some of that carbclean in there, then start it up and it runs smoother and and feels like it runs cleaner. sometimes i get a backfire when it first starts up after shooting the carbcleaner in, then it runs real smooth.

    09 Spectre CAI problem!!!

no offense, but these s197's are way different than a 66 mustang and a vette. get a JLT or a C&L w/ a tuner and your problems will be solved.

    Air & Oil Seperator/Catch Can

i have breathers on both sides, i used to have a catch can for the driver's side. i like the breathers better, but get some blow by on the passenger side valve cover, none on the driver side. i'm gonna add a oil cap breather to see if it helps relieve the pressure going out to the valve cover...
