what dizzzy gear does my 85 have steel or cast iron?

Not enough info. The 1985 5.0 HO carbed is the model that has the steel gear due to the change to the steel roller cam. The auto has a cast iron gear. The cam is what determines the distributor gear's material. Ask the cam manufacturer what they recommend.

    r134a ?

It is always better to find and fix the leak. It's all the same priniciple. Leak stoppers will find very small places to seal. They cannot disseminate between the actual leak and the small holes of a part like a filter. I am guessing that you have a 94/95 car. More than likely your leak is at...

    PCV pictures/setup?

The power increase is miniscule. It's a way of having PCV without spoiling the intake mix. AFAIK, keeping the rings sealed and keeping pressure from building up in the crankcase is what a PCV system is for - not power.

    how long do t-5's last?

I've had the 84 for 17 years. The only thing left stock in the drivetrain is the T5. I'm just shy (like 2000 and change) of a quarter million miles. My vert's T5 has just shy of 200K.

A couple of q's about reusing lifters and head bolts...

If you are talking roller lifters, they do not need to be put in at the same spot. Other lifters do because of the wear pattern that is formed at the bottom of the lifter and the lobe of the cam. This is why they have a break-in period. Since ARP head bolts are $42 here, I never reuse the...

    PCV pictures/setup?

Depends upon the year. On my carbed when it was stock. the air draw starts in the round breather with a PCV filter. It's pulled into the right valve cover into the engine, back out at the left cover where the PCV valve resides in the breather cap, then to the base of the carburetor. On the...

You need to take off the panel. All it is is several screws. No, there is no track, per sae. It is a rod. Perhaps your bushings are worn out.

    New member/car/problem

Yep, exactly what mine would do. I would have to pull over when it did this and wait a few minutes for the fuel bowl to fill up enough to start. Even then, it would act terrible until I let it sit and completely cool. Then it would run fine for a while. I could get it to happen almost every time...

    New member/car/problem

Those are the *exact* symptoms when I had a bad fuel pump. Even after changing it out, it started again about 4 weeks later (cheap stock replacement). You mentioned that pressure checked okay. What about flow? Also sounds like vapor lock. Some folks just replace a computer because they know...

    AC Help!!!!! 5.0

I've been in tech support too long to ever assume. Changing out the evap is not a trivial adventure in an aero 5.0 car. I did this in my vert last summer.
