Who wants "Eleanor" styling on 05 Mustang ? POLL

I don't know, I think the Eleanor styling could be a good idea depending on how Ford pulls it off... if they were to do it, it should be a very limited edition just as others have stated. Until that happens, check this out http://www.uniqueperformance.com/performancepackage.aspx You can...

Just saw the 2005 at the 40'th show in Nashville

All this talk about Shelby reminds me of Unique Performance. They brought some of their cars to the Dallas Auto Show recently. They're a company that builds some of the Shelby classics such as the GT350, GT500, and the Cobra. Their most impressive car has to be the 725 hp G.T.500E "Super Snake."

loaded 05 GT to sell for more than $30,000?

I don't think it will jump $5K. The base price should still be pretty close to the current base price. The main difference is that the '05 is going to be at higher demand initially which means paying more than you would for an '04. As for it being 30K or more fully loaded, several people...

    I don't like the V6 Mustang

It's alright... I just don't like those wheels though. I'm all for the retro styling, but those wheels just look bad IMO. That's something I would replace if I bought a V6... maybe with the 17" Mach 1 wheels, or Mille Miglia M11-2's, something that completes the package and makes it all look good.

    Mach 1 Engine Noise?!

Awesome, good news. So is it a valve tapping problem?

    IRS...

I can believe it. But there are a lot of things about NASCAR that aren't optimal. The reason they use a solid rear axle is not because that's best for racing, it's because it's required. But take a look at INDY cars, they have an IRS and they are known for their world class handling...

    Mach 1 Engine Noise?!

I had a similar problem with a '97 Mustang V6. And it was a lower rod bearing knock. The bearing had been spun and completely ruined and we found metal shavings in the oil. It had also ruined the crank shaft. My fix, replace the engine. It seems that the shop that had replaced the timing...

    IRS...

Yes, a live rear axle will hurt your performance when driving through the twisties. The fact is that no track is completely smooth. And the large amount of unsprung weight you get with a solid rear axle will really hurt the car's damping abilities. And the smallest hops you get with your rear...

'05 V6/GT vs. GTR head lights

I agree with you for the most part. I wouldn't buy one, because it's just not for me. I'd rather have a new Boss Mustang if & when Ford makes one. But all of those things that you say look bad on the GTR do have purpose. The carbon fiber hood lowers weight in the front, therefore improving...

'05 V6/GT vs. GTR head lights

Oh, yeah I got confused there. Well at least you can see how similar the front of that '69 Boss 302 is to the '05 GT.

The '70 model didn't but the '69 Boss Mustangs did have the extra lights...

What size rims do you want on your '05?

You're probably right. The Tiburon 11" rotors I installed on my Elantra would've just barely fit with 1/16" clearance if I had used my stock 15" wheels. And with the Mustang's brakes, I'm sure the calipers are significantly bigger, so it would be nearly impossible to find a 16" wheel that...

    Motor is complete

Nice, supports up to 2,450°F. That should be enough.

Looks great. So those are ceramic-coated headers?

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

I started a thread about this over at ElantraXD.com. I just offered my idea of using a centrifugal supercharger and turbo combo. And the Forced Induction moderator, Elantra2.001 responded: "I have seen it done. Once the turbo has spooled, or most often a certain rpm is reached, there is a...

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

I must admit there are a lot of unknowns with doing this. CobraCruiser, I don't understand what you mean. I don't know how you could get this to work with the stock supercharger. How would you route the turbo piping so that the turbo still aids in providing boost? It seems to me that you'd...

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

I just thought of something. Because of the nature of a roots-type supercharger you'd have to bolt the turbo on so that air flows through the turbo before the supercharger. And that wouldn't work since the supercharger is driven directly by the engine and isn't free to rev up. The air would...

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

"1. The bottom end would last .0001 seconds with a blower AND a turbo on a stock bottom end. I know of no one that has ever done this, and can't think of one reason why they would. Edit: I just saw the links above...those are not Mustangs so they have no relevance in this discussion. Two...

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

I don't have much actual experience with this. I've hung around a little when my friend has installed a custom single turbo on his Eclipse. And just picked up theory here and there. But I do know this... roots-type and screw-type superchargers will boost off of idle...

take out the supercharger and replace with turbo (more)

The twin-turbo route is not really optimal either. With a twin-turbo setup, there is more pressure loss compared to a larger single-turbo setup. And even when you're using two small turbo's, you still don't get boost until around 2,500 or 3,000 rpm's. And the supercharger boosts from idle &...
