    another 'vert stiffness thread

Gee, I guess I can't install the 408W in mine either? Oh, wait a minute...I'm cutting through the inner fender on the driver's side too...seems that there is some funny looking snail-shell shaped device, with a big ole' black belt on it. I am sorry I didn't ask permission before screwing...

    390FE-M112 Eaton idea

KB twin screw >> Eaton blower One of these years I may actually have my 331 + KB2.2 flow/blow combo in the 2+2. That ought to be fun...

Putting IRS in my 65 Mustang

The FFR approach is interesting...and it is very reasonable in cost (<$2000). I remain totally unsure of what to do w/ my 65 2+2 as far as suspension. $4000 for a 3-link setup, still needing brakes and axle...an IRS might not be too bad an idea.

    It's done...only took 6 years.

Congrats on getting it finished! What did you end up doing as far as specific suspension parts? Alas, I don't think I will EVER get either of my Mustangs built and on the road :)!

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

RRS is not a road race setup. A strut will never be able to give an optimal camber curve for road course handling. Look at this setup as simply another approach to a performance street car.

Some pictures of my project... The Mustang SHO

Interesting...I LOVED my '91 SHO. That Yamaha engine was an amazing piece of work. I had an '87 Mustang GT but MUCH preferred to drive the Taurus. Sure is a lot of work for this transplant...makes me look again at the LS2 transplant idea I had before! At least it is an AMERICAN V-8...

    HIDEOUS ABOMINATION on mag cover

I would rather have a Miata w/ a hot SBF stuffed into it, rather than hanging the body panels on the Miata... ...still...it makes me a bit ill. I really like Miatas, and I LOVE OLD MUSTANGS. Keep them apart. This is some kind of abomination! I am having flashbacks to a particular line...

    HIDEOUS ABOMINATION on mag cover

Have ANY of you seen the abomination...classic Mustang body panels attached to a Miata...and a write up seeing it as GOOD??? It is the apocalypse.

    Anyone using Air Ride suspension?

I would like to be able to drive a car with air springs. The physics are backwards from what one would appear to need: as you lower the car, the springs are softer, and that's when they need to be stiffer. Conversely, when they are set higher up, you want a softer ride. Just not sure if this...

Insane 66 'vert project...a LONG history and current info

Update: well, very little has progressed. McAllister has NOT been at all realiable on the engine front, with some dispute now being dealt with via my CC company. I have had zero time for that car, and my friend's shop has been quite busy. All of my time has been taking the STS rear mount...

turbo set up and custom made headers

Glad to see this brought back up. The intercooler issue is problematic on the 65-66 cars. I have hacked up a R-valence and set a huge intercooler in place on my 'vert project. Given the flow of the D2 procharger, I wanted a LOT of intercooler, but this is ridiculous [click on the link below...

    Hedman Hedder Question

If these are the same headers that Hedman has built forever for these cars, they are fine. 1 5/8" IIRC. Worked well with my 289 + cam + manifold + 4V carb. They are worth getting coated, or simply "blast" them and paint w/ several coats of header paint.

    AFR 185's on a 306?

S-66: Fine...ignore such issues as port velocity. Given the limitation of flow rate the Powerdyn's tend to show, maybe you need less restriction. But for most applications, oversized ports are not needed for many FI apps. With the twin turbo setup I'm currently installing on my LS2-GTO, the...

    AFR 185's on a 306?

Actually when you are adding boost, you don't need large ports. The forced induction flows plenty as you are above atmospheric pressure [duh!]. Smaller ports will have better velocity, especially when you first open it up and aren't in boost. 185's aren't too much for a 306, but if you are...

Anyone have or heard of B-Quiet insulation?

Excellent stuff. I have had great results with their high-end products, both the B-quiet ultimate as well as the L-comp. The ultimate is quite durable, very sticky [doesn't fall off] and has good attenuation characteristics. The L-comp is a lead-based product...oops...just checked the site...

Worth it? $3K for STS remote turbo universal kit

I am currently installing a twin turbo [front mount] kit on my GTO to replace the STS. This kit is a bargain for $4500 + 450 shipping from Australia. A big piece of the cost savings is that they use the stock manifolds swapped side-to-side; then a pipe connects the manifold to the turbine...

Worth it? $3K for STS remote turbo universal kit

Turbo kit for under $2k...yeah, right! If you are wanting to put 100 hrs of labor into it, well, perhaps. But for those of us that earn more than minimum wage, fabricating a good turbo setup is a lot of work. Balancing the exhaust back pressure on a single V8 w/ crossover involves more than...

Worth it? $3K for STS remote turbo universal kit

Having done the first STS on a 2005 GTO w/ the LS2 engine...500+ rwhp is nothing to sneeze at. That said, I have sold the system and am finishing work on a front [traditional] mount twin turbo setup as I want INSTANT spool. The STS setup works well on a 1/4 mi car, as you can spool the turbo...

    Front suspension

The R&C MII front end is comparable in price, as is Heidt's. That is one advantage to the MII kits. More labor, though. I am curious about simply "adding 1" to the arms" without actually evaluating this with suspension software. Did someone go over this stuff?
