    67/68 stance

Here's mine. Grab-a-Track 1" lowering springs and shelby drop with 225-17's in front, and standard 4 leaf springs & 255-17's in back.

    Shelby drop and Springs?!

I just finished doing the shelby drop along with 560# 1" lowering springs on my '68. Since evidently, my stock springs were sagging, it lowered the car about 3/4". I was surprised, as the new springs were over 3 inches shorter that the stock ones when I stood them side by side on the...

Anyone using MSD Blaster2 coil with Pertronix ignition?

I've converted my '68 points distributor to a Pertronix Ignitor. It works fine with the stock coil, and my car does not have a ballast resistor. I got an MSD Blaster2 coil to replace the stock one now (regular 12v coil), and it came with a ballast resistor to use with points ignitions. Since...

New Bushings & Front Strut torque question....

Any one else? Who's put in new strut rod bushings in your car....how did you go about tightening them up? The torque in my CD manual just doesn't seem right to me. 60-80 ft.lbs. seems like too much on the rubber bushings.

New Bushings & Front Strut torque question....

I just finished the front suspension on my '68. The spec on tightening the front strut to body mount nuts in the manual is 60-80 ft. lbs., but with the new bushings (they're stiffer than the stock ones) they don't collapse the same. Does anyone have a good guideline or information on how much to...

    Shelby Drop Question

Thanks guys! They're Billet Specialties Fastlane wheels. Fronts are 17" x 7" whith 225-45-17 tires, and the rears are 17" x 8" with 255-45-17's. 1965stangcoupe.....I'll post a couple more pics when I get home later this evening.

    Shelby Drop Question

Just finished the complete suspension, Granada disc brake swap, and shelby drop on my '68 fastback yesterday. The car is back on its wheels, but I still have to plumb in the master cylinder and prop. valve. I asked the same question on here when I started the project, and after listening to the...

    Piston Ring Gap Grinders?

Another alternative is to hand file the rings with a flat needle file to get the ring gap just right. That's what I do, and then check them in the bores with feeler gages. Takes a little time, but I don't build enough engines to warrant buying a ring grinder either.

    leather seats

The harnesses are RCI, from summit racing. They're 5 point, but I'm not using the submarine belts. I think they're about $70 a set. You can't mount them behind the seats on the floor, because it's too sharp of an angle and would put a strain on your body the wrong way. There is a minimum angle...

    leather seats

I have the summit seats in my '85. I'm very happy with 'em, and they're more comfortable than the stock seats were on a long drive. I looked at many seats that were much more expensive and were'nt nearly as comfortable before I bought them. I'm thinking about putting them in the '68 as well...

    Shelby Drop & tire clearance......

Thanks guys, I'll let ya know how it turns out!

    Shelby Drop & tire clearance......

Yes, the backspacing on my 17" x 7" front rims is 4", and that's really close on the '68. In fact on tight cornering on the drivers side I had a little rubbing. And that's before I'm doing the lowering or the shelby drop. That's why I'm concerned with the clearance after the drop. Any other...

    Shelby Drop & tire clearance......

Thanks for the info guys. I just came in from the garage, after finishing drilling the new holes in the shock towers. I forgot to tell you that I'm also going with 560# grab-a-track coils that are supposed to lower the front an additional inch besides doing the shelby drop. After hearing from...

    Shelby Drop & tire clearance......

I'm rebuilding/replacing the entire front suspension on my '68 fastback, as well as adding a Granada disc brake conversion. While I'm at it, my intent was to do the "Shelby Drop" also. The problem is that front tire to fender clearance is very minimal as it is right now. I've just put a set of...

    Magnapack Exhaust for Mach 1

You'll like the Magna Packs! I have them on my Mach1 and the wife has 'em on her GT also. While they are louder than the Magna-Flows, they are still quiet enough for daily driving. :nice:

    Where is everyone buying wheels?

Newstalgia has good prices, and great customer service. I got Wheel Vintiques billet magnums for the Mach1 from them, and just recently went back to them for a set of Billet Specialties Fastlanes for the '68. Both times the wheels and tires were shipped ahead of schedule, and arrived in perfect...

That would have been my next question. Thanks.

Front Disc Brake Kit Winter Special

Dennis, What is the difference between the master cyl. provided in the kit for the '68, and the stock dual reservoir master cyl. with drum/drum brakes?

Need either a quiet electric fuel pump or manual pump solution

I run a Mallory Comp 140 pump on my '85 GT. You car hear it run, but it's MUCH quieter than the Holleys are.
