    There's a grey plastic sleeve that goes on the striker bolt. It gets worn out and breaks off. You can get a replacement sleeve at the parts store. I've found them in the HELP! section where they keep the window cranks, pedal pads, door handles and such.

    There wouldn't be a vacuum leak. There'd definitely be an exhaust leak though especially with the EGR closed. You'd hear it puffing through the hole. It might sound like a vacuum leak, but it wouldn't actually be one.

    the only thing I can think of that would be even close to the driveshaft would be the exhaust. Even with the suspension fully compressed, the driveshaft has room in the tunnel. If there are no clean spot or signs of rubbing on the driveshaft, it's not hitting anything

    100K miles isn't bad for a 2.3 I'd be more concerned with how long they were sitting and how they were stored. The money isn't bad if the motors are complete and aren't damaged.

    You'll need a whole new aux shaft. You can try Ford, but it may have already been discontinued. Aux shaft PN# E4FZ-6A739-A. The last one I bought (in '05) was just over 100 dollars. I don't have the part number for the oil pump drive assembly. Try Ford first There is no aftermarket option...

    Look for clean spots on the inner fender wells out back. Chances are real good that it's tire scrape. If the driveshaft is truly scraping, It'll have a shiny ring on it where it's rubbing.

    There's a vacuum check valve that's failed. I can't tell you where it is because I've yet to change one on a Mustang

    It wouldn't throw PIP and other ignition related codes if it were the fuel pump. Besides, I've yet to see a fuel pump get weak then fail, they usually just stop working (always with a fuel tank of fuel too :) ).

    It's possible that the crank sensor has issues. However, I'm thinking if it starts and idles, basic crank sensor function is OK. They test the module out of the car. They have a small machine they hook the module to that simulates it's operation in the car. The tester isn't foolproof, but...

    4cyl and V8 K members are the same. The only one that was different was the one for the inline 6's that were optional during the early-mid 80's.
