Two questions on TrickFlow install instructions

As far as checking P to V clearance I have always heard of using the clay method. Lay a layer of modeling clay on one of pistons. Put the head on and crank the motor over by hand a few times. Take the head back off and check the imprint of the valve in the clay. This will give you an idea of...

Cheap street/strip drag springs for the rear

I use to have a set of the Eibach drag/launch springs in my 91 GT. They had an airbag that went in the passenger side spring in the rear to prevent wheel hop. I loved the springs. I never had an issue with wheel hop after these and the way the rear of the car would squat on launch just...

    weird engine temperatures

Yeah, I took out the guage sending unit not the actual ECT. When I took it out I could look down in the intake and couldn't even see any coolant that I remember. I would have thought I would have been able to at least see some. This was with the motor cold though. In the morning I am going...

    weird engine temperatures

I removed the temperature sender while the car was not running. There was still no fluid that came out of the hole however. I thought coolant would come out but it never did. I am pretty sure that the pulley is not slipping and yes I am pretty sure the belt is the right length. I also do...

    using a 91 GT stereo in a 92 LX

Well the plugs for the back of my 91 stereo and my 92 LX are different. I have a book that is the history of the mustang and it says in the book that in 92 they went to an amplifier in the LX and GT model and that this is why the plugs are different.

    weird engine temperatures

The 180 thermostat that I just put in the car a couple weeks ago does have a small hole at the top of the thermostat looks like for a vent. However, the 160 that the guy that previously owned the car had in did NOT have this hole. Did this cause damage to something maybe?? Also I feel I...

compression dheck to determine blown head gasket?

So a leakdown test just tests how much pressure "leaks" over a certain time right? Is this something I can rent from an autopart store?

compression dheck to determine blown head gasket?

Is a compression check the best way to determine if you have a leaking/blown headgasket? If a head gasket leaks then there is no way a cylinder could hold compression right?

Car may be running lean with 24s?

What heads are on the car?? I know trickflow heads like a lot of timing. I had a set of the standard TW heads on my 91 GT and I ran 18* all the time and never had a problem. The car ran the best and made more power on 18* than any other setting. But for sure bump your timing down a bit first...

    weird engine temperatures

Ok. I will work on this in the morning as well as pulling the plugs. If the head gasket does have a small micro leak is there any danger of driving the car like this for a short while till I know for sure so I can fix it? It is not that far of a drive to work. Like 4 miles. I just don't...

    weird engine temperatures

Hmm. thats not good. I haven't noticed the heat going up and down or losing heat completely. I do however seem to have a lot of "steam" coming from the tailpipes a lot. I haven't noticed a glycol smell but it might be there. I will pull the plugs and take a look. I have also noticed...

    weird engine temperatures

I like your thought on the temp guage. I think your right and I will probably go with the 140-280 range guage. I am going to put them in a guage cage in the middle vent of the car. I had a set of the liquid filled pro comps in my other mustang I had in the middle vent and I loved it. They...

    charcol canister removal?

If your going to plug the heads just go get some NPT plugs and put in the heads to block them off. The plugs are like 2 bucks a piece or something and is not "rigging" it. Also I have taken 2 sets of smog systems off with charcoal canister and never had a code thrown. The only code I have...

    Best Rear Suspension

In my experience just put on a set of ET streets and call it a day. I had a twin turbo mustang for a while that made 600 RWHP and I was cutting 1.60 60' times coming out on like 1 psi of boost. I could have come out harder and cut 1.5's I know but I was afraid of breaking something else. I...

    weird engine temperatures

Its funny you mention the aftermarket guages because I am looking at them online right now. I got some gift certificates for summit and I think I am gonna pick up some nice Autometer coolant temp and oil pressure guages just to be sure its not my stock guage. As far as water temp do you guys...

    head swap troubles

Some wood or a rubber mallet would be fine. Just don't use anything metal on your intake to hit it.

    weird engine temperatures

Ok guys. I kinda have a weird question. I want to know that for those of you with 180* thermostats what does your temperature guage do? Mine does all kinds of different things. Sometimes I can drive my car and the temp guage will hang down in the 150-170 range the entire time. Sometimes...

    head swap troubles

Yeah, there is only 6 bolts that hold the upper intake down to the lower. If the intakes have never been apart then they are probably just gummed up together and its gonna take some pulling and banging to get them apart. If you have the clearance to get the intakes off with the dist in...

    reverse rotation water pump

So if a standard rotation water pump was on the car and was being turned the opposite direction like a reverse rotation what would happen? Also is there any way by looking at the water pump you can tell if its standard or reverse rotation water pump?

    drive shaft..

I was under the impression that if your driveshaft is balanced properly it shouldn't matter how it goes up. I have always just put mine back up however and never had a problem. I had a FMS aluminum one though so maybe thats why.
