    public apology to Chips...

First of all, a lower stance and bigger/wider wheels & tires would go a long way at improving that. And if the '99 GT is any measure, Ford will probably make some subtle changes to the body in a couple years to make it more aggressive looking. Hopefully not by adding non-functional...

    Eibach Springs Available.

Awesome, that was quick. That should be a perfect drop too... then again, Eibach pretty much always gives a perfect drop.

    Brakes?

Well the brakes in the '05 Mustang are pretty big, which is nice. 12.4" diameter in front. I wouldn't expect many problems... of course time will tell. The truth is, any car can develop brake problems, and many cars can be very persistant about it. Unfortunately, both the rotors and the pads...

Anyone getting X-price and if so what is the price?

Thanks rrobello for the explanation. My family has used the Z plan a lot in the past so I already knew about that one, but that overview explains a lot.

    Blowers?

Kenne Bell sells twin-screw supercharger kits (even better :D ). And so does Whipple. I'd wait for one of them.

    Ford Mustang performance parts program

I don't know if this is the latest version, but it looks the 400hp 5.0L Cammer is $15K from here: http://www.fordracingparts.com/crateengine/modularcobra.asp EDIT -- ^ He beat me to it.

    Livernois Dynoes '05 Mustang GT

I didn't read everything here but I saw mention of the DynoJet. I did some research on this awhile back. The DynoJet is an inertia dyno, which partially takes into consideration acceleration. Ironically, acceleration has nothing to do with horsepower or with torque. If you want to get...

    Manual v Automatic question...

I bought a Mustang with a manual tranny before I knew how to drive it. As soon as I bought it I had a couple lessons from my older brother and from my Dad. On the 2nd night I drove it by myself, and it was a blast. It's so much more enjoyable to drive a stick and just to have complete control...

    05 GT Burn Out Video

Gotta love that sound. I'm with you... some extreme drifting around a track would've been much better. :D

Some clarification on MT's 05 GT track test

Ehh... I'm going to avoid the Automatic like the plague no matter what. I don't like automatics, and I especially hate Ford's automatics. If you're a hardcore drag racer, then that might be another story as there are plenty of other considerations when aiming for max performance.

Who wants to see the pictures I took today of the 2005 Mustang GT? (56K Killer!)

The new '05 Subaru Legacy was the most impressive to me in this respect. Everything is soft to the touch. I don't know what kind of material it is, but it has a rubberized feel and won't make that high pitch plastic sound when you tap it, but rather a low-pitch muted sound. Because of that, I...

    Ford/Toyota merger?

Even if there was a merger, I don't think Toyota would be the one to redesign everything to look like a Toyota. You know what I mean? Ford cars have to retain a distinctly Ford image. And Ford has done just fine lately designing their new cars. It would probably be more of a parts-sharing...

talked to one of the 05s designers today............

Here's the site I was talking about: http://www.teknett.com/pwp/drmayf/tbls.htm It has drag specs for a lot of older cars.

talked to one of the 05s designers today............

Well now that everyone is off topic... It's not just the drag coefficient that determines the force of drag... that's the nature of a coefficient. What should be considered is frontal area x drag coefficient. Unfortunately it can be hard to find these specs. I did find some interesting...

    SVT/Mach 1 vs. SRT-4 Decision

Also... if you're concerned about safety in snowy conditions. You may want to consider a Subaru WRX or an '05 Legacy GT. The '05 models just came out and the Legacy GT is getting rave reviews. They added a turbo this year. I sat in one at the auto show and the build quality was on par with...

    SVT/Mach 1 vs. SRT-4 Decision

I think you should go for the compromise -- the Mach 1 is a good car. It handles very well, looks nice, has good power, and is quite a bit less than the Cobra.

    Chip Tech-Talk

Eventually, I'm sure there will be plug n play or piggy-back ECU chips available simply because it's a Mustang... the following for this car is 100X greater than my Hyundai. Until then, for you guys desiring forced induction, an FMU could be used to handle your fuel delivery. Or there is...

    Flat Hood

Typically when you get into plus sizing you'll see that the car needs to be lowered more than ever -- not the other way around. But I agree, it could stand to be lowered about an inch or maybe more.

Saw '05 Mustang on the road today... my thoughts!

I think the '05 is one of the nicest Mustang's ever built. I think Ford is starting to raise the bar on the cars they build and that's good news. But, there has been a trend lately with car companies. They have been building some really nice performance-oriented cars at reasonable prices...
