    Anyone try hoades lifters?

If so what did you think? I've heard of them for years and just recently realized its just like VVT. I'm not sure if I want to use them as my compression is around 10.5:1-11:1 and need the overlap to bleed off cylinder pressure at lower rpms. BUt it is an interesting thought to use on a turbo...

Versailles Rear End & T-5 Setup

If you use a used drive shaft don't remove the card board tube inside, it acts as a sound deadner when something like a pebble hits it. You wouldn't want to use the drive shaft from the six anyway they are smaller in diameter and could "whip" at RPM. Modifying a stock shaft at a local shop would...

cable or hyd. clutch? what do you prefer?

Z bar, cables break and hydraulics have leaks and reduce the pedal feel. I've been stranded by a cable.

    O-Rings for power steering hoses

Yes, but there is a larger one from the pump to control valve and return hose as well but those of course would be in the control valve. I went through this when I rebuilt the "power" side of my unit. Now the pump to reservoir seals leak! Althogh it isn't too bad. My Dad had been chasing that...

    More ignition questions.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that about the gap, I thought the only reason for a smaller gap was that higher compression had a greater chance to "blow" out the spark. It makes more sense now.

    O-Rings for power steering hoses

The slave cylinder (ram, power cyliinder etc) is supposed to have aluminum inserts or "seats" installed in the hose connection. If these are bad or missing it will leak. It will leak real bad if they are missing. You can order these online from different shops, I got mine from a Falcon parts...

What are my plugs (and burnt up rotor) telling me?

Power valves are used to enrichen an other wise lean mixture at higher rpms . Tere are different "sizes" (like jets). Also sometimes they fail as they have a diaphragm and a spring. Usually the diaphragm will rupture or get a small hole in it. They open based on a given vacuum level when the...

    Autolite 4100 Info

Its amazing how much CFM you get from a few millimeters (yeah I know its metric but its easier for my hard head to figure out). I used to ream out venturis on Rochester 2jet carbs for my VW bug, it was way cheaper than Webers and worked almost as good. All in all I wouldn't mind using a 4100 if...

    Autolite 4100 Info

Due to an article in one the mustang mags larely supported by Pony carbs the 4100 has become highly desirable. This my be because once set up right you can forget about as it seems to hold its tune. I'm not really sure why its desirable its just my guess. The point is that this desirability has...

    More ignition questions.

It seems it is hard to find solid core plug wires and non-resistor plugs. I know that years ago that was the way to go. But w/ todays technology would those make that much difference. I understand that the EMI/EMF given off by the plugs and wires would not play nicely with electronic components...

    289 engine horse power estimate

There are shareware programs that can be found on the internet that can estimate your HP. You will need the specs from your cam-card, these can be found online at the manufacturers site. Also all other specs will need to be entered. The programs usually get you close to what real power is. I...

    Anyone use Champion spak plugs?

Thanks for the plug info bnickel. D.Hearne Thengine I am using them in is a .30 over 302 w/ TRW Forged pop ups (10.4cc dome) and D00E 351W Heads. I have some detonation unless I back off the timing a bit but I also lose some power. I was hoping the colder plugs will let me bump the timing back...

    Anyone use Champion spak plugs?

NGK a WR5 but it was listed for two heat ranges. Denso seemed to be like NGK where their plug seemed to cover two heat ranges when crossed referenced to BF32.

    Anyone use Champion spak plugs?

It seems that Champion is the only manufacturer that makes a plug equivalant to a BF32. All the cross references suggest a 45 which is what I have now. Its too bad I can't find the right one. All the cross ref. sites give a plug 2 to 3 heat ranges for one number (NGK, Denso, Autolite, Bosch)...

    Odd Turn Signal Issue

I had a similar problem and it was in the column. The original switch was replaced by an inferior replacement. I bought a new one after checking around and that fixed my problem. I think I got it from NPD.

Help me decide which wheels would look best on my car.

I'm partial to the Cragars and would paint the centers black. Of course I'm thinking because I'm on a budget since a career change and move made a big change in my pay. If money were no object I would go for the black but no larger than 15 inch. I'm not crazy about the big wheels on the...
