    Cam combo

The valve sizes make me more concerned about the P/Valve clearance. Other than that I'm still on the Crane side of the fence. Keep digging, the more you can find out the better quality of reccomendation we (and the cam companies) can give you.

    Cam combo

He said his car is a manual. So, since it doesn't have a converter, he doesn't have to worry about it. 2 things: Without doing all the math, a .30 327 is about 40-50 cubic inches bigger than a 289 so the 289 may idle slightly worse. Those off brand :) motors have a much higher exhaust...

    Cam combo

The kit or matched components will give you everything to account for things like coil bind and spring pressures. I would still check the P/V clearance especially if it has unknown pistons. It *should* be o.k. but better to check and be safe than to punch a hold in a piston. With stock sized...

    Cam combo

It would help to have the total specs on the engine, compression, internal modifications ECT. It the bottom end is assembled with due diligence and good rod bolts, it should stand 6-6500 burst RPM with no problems at all though. With any cam larger than you have you will need to check your...

If you are not doing head work, go with a dual pattern like the XE line. The 274 would be a nice choice. just find the part number and add a "K" to it to get the kit with springs and all. You were not clear as to whether you like the idle or not. if you want it to idle smoother, go for a cam...

    428 CJ Camshaft .050 Specifications

So, you don't know the .050 Specifications? The advertised duration, and overlap specs are exactly the same according to the numbers I do have. the lift is .048-.058 more intake and .080-.090 more exhaust depending on whose numbers for the CJ cam you are reading (or which paragraph in the...

    428 CJ Camshaft .050 Specifications

I know that some of the truck guys had mentioned it before but haven't paid a great deal of attention. I just noted thought that the Crane 801 camshaft appears very similar to the Cobra Jet cam with bigger lift. Does anyone have any .050 numbers for the factory Cobra Jet camshaft? I have...

How much did you pay to have your automatic trans rebuilt?

It is a C6 but: 190 for a TCI complete kit. 185 for a TCI converter 50 to the tranny guy at my old dealership.

    can anyone help?

you could also try old gold. Be forewarned, they will want plenty for it if they have a nice one. http://www.oldgoldcars.com/ You could also try Dennis-Carpenter reproductions. It goes without saying thats after you exhaust all the usual supects like NPD.

Just got nice Stang but fouling plugs

Oh one other thing, Try to make sure you get all the old pieces of valve seals out. They can clog the drainback holes. In fact if the drainback holes are clogged, that could contribute to your problem. Valve seals will generally smoke on initial start up in the morning as well.

    no pics - help

If you are running Firewall/internetsecurity/pop up blocker soft ware turn it off and see if that helps. I can't explain why it does it some days and doesn't others, but when mine does that, turning off NIS always works.

Just got nice Stang but fouling plugs

I would say run a compression test, wet and dry. If it is good and they are oil fouled, replacing the valve seals might help. It is not hard. Just remove the valve cover. Remove Rocker arms (sorry forgot that) Apply air to the cylinder you are working on (compression tester hose with...

What do you think of remanufactured parts?

Most of the chains sell cheap stuff. Napa and CarQuest are usually a bit better, than autozone and advance. The restoration places are usually better still. (speaking generally)

TWO thumbs up to SUMMIT and VA CLASSIC MUSTANG

I am done with Advance and AutoZone. Discount used to be good until Advance bought them out. They don't restock like they should (like how can a parts store be out of 1157 bulbs) The replacement parts they sell are usually crap.......I'd pay extra just not to have to talk to those fools...

Where to start with upgrading my Mustangs engine?

The Trans pac is probably a better choice, http://www.bmracing.com/ Click "Products" "kits" "TransPac" "Ford" Also I've had good luck with TCI stuff. http://www.tciauto.com/service_kits/index.htm The "TransScat" is what you want. Give us an engine picture so we can see if it has...
