    It does soften up the spring rate so be carful how much you cut off. My $100 - '68 Ranchero was a option car with heavy duty suspension, it has 5 leafs from the factory. Way too much IMO and sat way too high and rode way too stiff.

    Each piece is 8.5" long and yes, it can be done to a street car. Both of the cars I've done it too are street cars.

    We use a lot of fiberglass on our track cars. The fit and finish is not critical for us. If it was, boy, you would have a lot of work ahead of you. Our '65 coup runs a glass front end as does our '66. I can pick up the hood with one finger, very light. They look great going down the track...

    Good point. Some grinding to smooth them out would be a good idea. The little slippy things could be made out of a lot of different material and are also a good idea. Some leaf springs don't have them but most do.

    I go with that too, I bet it's an alignment problem. We run the same settings on all of our street cars. 0 - camber 2deg. pos. caster 1/8" toe-in If the car was set to factory settings, that is for sure your proeblem. John

    I put a brace on the top and bottom. Either one will do it, both is overkill. Your not removing that much metal, no brace or a small brace of some kind would do it. It's just cutting off a bit of the ball joint dome so the bracing may not be needed at all. The brace I made for the top was easy...

    I would grind back the ball joint dome. The rim isn't going to hit the ball joint, the sheet metal of the arm is in the way. Removing some of it won't hurt a thing. I would do that before putting in any kind of spacer.

    It's a custom made shaft from 4140 chromoly. The stock shaft won't work with our bearing kit or any other that I could find. I spent over a year in development of the roller UCA's and the design of the shaft was most of it.

    You could if you put a Ford Shaft in them. The AMC bolt spread is wider. No one reproduces them so they are not easy to find.
