    Drag race suspension?

This is a roller front end ( roller upper/lower arms and spring perches) I built for a drag racing '68 big block coup. The owner said the car ran 3/10's quicker, it would hook a lot harder and pull the front tires another 6-8" at the starting line. Getting the front end to move quicker will...

    Opentracker Autocross Upper Control Arms

We had a great time at Mini-Nats and I do remember you stopping by with your car. It was nice meeting you too, I've always liked the cars that get driven at speed on the track and are also street driven. Our orange car gets a lot of both too. I'm not sure if I'll make it to Thunderhill. You...

    Opentracker Autocross Upper Control Arms

Cool Video! - Some of the vintage Trans-Am racers use a bone stock upper arm as we did for our first three years of open track events. With the extra bracing and a new Moog heavy duty ball joint, our autocross arms will definitely hold up under track conditions. John

Opentracker UCA vs. Global West UCA

It's all about camber curve - how much you want and how much your willing to pay for it? The ORP street arm is just that, an arm for the street. It has the stock ball joint angle and works well with the standard upper arm mounting point or the 1" drop. The ORP road racing UCA has the ball...

    Few quick suspension questions.

I agree with Matt. The roller parts help a lot. More than you might think. If you put a roller kit in your idler arm, it won't fit the stock frame bracket. We have our roller idler arms turned down on a lathe so they will work with the stock frame bracket. The longer brackets are no longer...

    Few quick suspension questions.

We are having good luck putting the KYB shock up front with the MP Grab-A-Track shock in the rear on a budget built street car. The Grab-A-Track shock is made by Monro. It isn't as stiff as the KYB and they cost less. Stock V8 springs with a set of large sway bars and the shock...

    New Clutch/Flywheel...Bad Clutch Chatter

I put three different clutches in our orange car before I got one that didn't chatter. A real PITA but I did fix it. Your pressure plate is the problem in my opinion. It should be flat as the flywheel and disk. That is an odd wear pattern. John

New tires rubbing on upper control arms

The Ford styled steel wheels are 4.25" backspacing. The extra camber is making the tire hit the wheel. I'll bet that you'll have more room after the alignment. I have ran a 15X7 wheel with 4.5" of backspacing on the early cars with a Dunlop 225 tire. The BFG tires bulge more than the Dunlop...

    Where is your clutch pedal????

Mine is even with the brake pedal, on my track car and my daily driver. My wife's Ranchero is too. The adjustment is done with the stop, they are adjustable. John

Shelby A-arm Relocation and Lowering Questions

This photo was taken soon after we got the orange car. It's got 14X7 wheels with 245/60/14's out back and 225/60/14's up front. Little wheels, lot's of tire. It's still set at the same ride height. A little tire rub never bothered me. If the tires don't rub, that tells me I can lower the car...

Shelby A-arm Relocation and Lowering Questions

Our '65 coup runs the 16X8 wheels with 4.5 backspacing on the track with a 225/50/16 tire. It has glass fenders and there is no lip at all. They do rub a little but not much. The cars I have seen with the 8" wheels do have some mods or they sit way high with a small tire and stiff springs.

Shelby A-arm Relocation and Lowering Questions

That is a bad-ass looking car. I GIVE! - - Those wheels look killer! Some of the SUV's with 24's do look a little funny to me. Just my opinion. John

Shelby A-arm Relocation and Lowering Questions

You can run a 15" wheel with 4.5 backspacing if you trim/grind some off of the upper arm. The wheels hit the arm, not the ball joint. I ran 15X7 wheels on my car for a while that had 4.5" of backspacing. All I did was grind a bit off the nose of the upper arm. The original Ford upper arms gave...

    spring perch question

It's a clearance issue with thier upper arms. If the spring perch is put in like the original ( tab twards the inside), it hits the back of the arm. It's not a geometry deal since it bolts in the same place. John

    ORP Roller Spring Perches

Thank you, I don't want to step on any toes! or get mine stepped on. I'll ask the Moderators about the add and offer them a BIG cut or see if they want some free parts. We have a new lower price so I thought I would spread the word. Thanks again, John

    ORP Roller Spring Perches

Improve the handling of your classic muscle car with Opentracker Racing Products Roller Spring Perches. Stock and aftermarket spring perches use rubber as the bushing between the perch and the perch-mounting shaft which greatly increases the effort required for your suspension to move. Our...
