lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

That looks nice! Good job on the spring rebuild. How much time did it take to do both sides? Did you hit that stance on the first try? John

    Alignment problems

There is no reason to have the car up in the air to do the alignment. Alignments are done with the car at ride height. You need to find another shop. John

    Congrats to Opentracker (again!)

Yes it was. I have never bought a new set of leaf springs. I rebuild leaf springs to get the ride height and spring rate I want. I've been doing it for 15+ years, it's free and it works. John

    Congrats to Opentracker (again!)

Yep, thank you very much! We are in print again. The article is about the lower arm mod I've been doing for the past few years. Here is a thread on it I did two years ago. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=487944 Here's one on the spring perch mod I did about the same time...

    Sway bar clearance

Lot's of us have had to bend that lip on the bottom part of the frame to fit the 1 1/8" sway bar. I have done it several times. I use the BFH to get the job done. John

Upper control arm will not stop squeaking

With our Street Ready Upper Arms, I take the shaft kit apart, de-burr and pre-lub the shaft and inside of the nuts. Then I put it back together and adjust the nuts so they are not too tight or too loose and weld on a tab to keep the nuts from moving. It's not hard work but you do need a welder...

Progress report on suspension build (pics)

Well, both upper and lower arms are for a '65. That lower arm is a good one in my opinion. The ball joint they used in that arm is a lot like the ones I use from my stock car supplyer, very strong. You will have to get a new set of arms. Check the bolt spread on the uppers, the old ones are 4...

    OMG WTF HAPPEND HERE!!!!

Put me on the list of people that like the car. I watched it get built over on CC.com and it is a work of art. I wish I could build a car like that, I hope to someday. I learned a lot from Preston, he is a master fabricator. I bet it's fun to drive! John

    Burning Out!

The line lock is not ON/OFF. You can set it with just a little pressure if you want. It only holds the amount of braking force that you give it. I can do a nice long burnout over a great distance using the line lock. It is by far the cheapest way to get a good burnout. Way cheaper than changing...

    Burning Out!

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SBR%2DLL&N=301367+115&autoview=sku Put in a line lock and you'll be able to fry the tires down to the rim with no problem. I have one in my daily driver and the track car. I won't build a car without it. Only $40. John

WARNING: Not for the faint hearted...

Your lucky, or they are lucky it didn't fold up the 1/4 panel. That would be a drag. Someone is going to get in trouble. John

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

The shafts are custom made and cost $100ea with bearings and hardware. I tried to find a shaft from a stock car or performance store but they didn't have anything I could use. The arms take about 2-3 more hours of work on top of the work we do to the track ready arms we have now. It's a lot of...

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

When you-all see the price, you'll think I have lost my mind. That alone makes it overkill. I'll have a set of roller UCA's on my daily driver in a few days and they'll stay on there. The performance isn't overkill, the price is. I think the ORP track ready, Maier, TCP and GW arms are...

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

The roller UCA's have the same bracing and ball joint angle change as the track ready arms we have now. They take a lot of time and material to build. The price will be high, more than the TCP or GW arms. They should be on the web site in a week or two. I will say too that they are total...

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

Yes - We have 5 vendors so far. I would help if I could but I don't have that much time. I do help out when I can. I am known around here as "The Mustang Guy" or " The guy with the old Fords". I get asked a lot of questions about these cars. Most of the time I have a good answer or I can...

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

Yep - it's a custom made 4140 chromoly shaft with replaceable sealed roller bearings load rated at 5000lbs per arm. And thanks, I've been working on this for almost a year. They'll have a "Patent pending" stamp. John

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

No problem, I believe there are now two sets in Europe and I just sent the second set to OZ. With the roads you have over there, the roller perches will help more than they do here. Let us know how you like 'em after the test drive. I've been working on some new toy's. Here's a sneak peek...

Installing some new spring perches but need the nuts and bolts

It was only $5 to ship 'em. I thought it would be more than that. I wouldn't want to use the 40yr old hardware either, though Ford did use grade 8 bolts back then. John
