Pinging in '01 GT, any suggestions on how to cure?

Ah, I had the T/A installed by a shop and am not sure where that is/what position it should be in visually.

Pinging in '01 GT, any suggestions on how to cure?

Good point about it being a Steeda and possibility of an EEC reflash. Steeda says that they don't do that to their cars unless the customer requests a custom tune OR it's documented in the sheet that you get with the car. Mine had neither. However, this summer when I took it to Tim at T&J...

Pinging in '01 GT, any suggestions on how to cure?

Thanks for the replies, The strange thing is, no matter how much I retard the timing, it still sounds like it's pinging, still rattling coming from the engine when it's under load. It seems to run worse with anything less than stock timing. Oh well, I'll check out the plugs (they...

Pinging in '01 GT, any suggestions on how to cure?

I've been getting detonation/pinging when I get into it in any gear. The engine doesn't make any annoying rattles/sounds when I'm going easy on it. However when I get on it, it starts sounding rattley, doesn't have much of a kick, and sounds "airy" or "tinny". It just doesn't sound strong. I'm...

4.10 Gear videos in daily driving

Great vids! This should be made a sticky and permanently hosted on Stangnet, hehe. It really shows how the car performs in real world situations, I love the downshift to 4th passing the taxi, great stuff. :rlaugh: I'm very happy with my 4.10's.

    crazy Speedo here...

Hehe, sounds like you got yourself some gears. 3.73 or 4.10. Go out and drive 80 and if your RPMs are 2900-3000 then you have 4.10s. If they read a bit lower then you have 3.73's.

72,500 miles stock clutch and TOB?

I have 72,500 miles and still on the stock clutch assembly including the TOB. However, a little over a year ago my TOB started rattling a good bit for a few months then it just stopped. It hasn't rattled since. I was wondering if I caused any damage by continuing to drive with it rattling and...

Loss of rwhp on a dynojet with 4.10s compared to 3.27s (debate with friend)

Found an answer on corral.net " http://www.shane.roberts.net/dynojet.htm These questions have been long standing debates among car enthusiast, so I recently emailed DynoJet and asked these exact questions. Below are the responses I received from the DynoJet representative. QUESTION...

    Spark Knocking or Exhaust Leak?

Good advice, I think that many people overlook the importance of keeping a clean MAF. I clean mine every 15k miles just to make sure. :D

Loss of rwhp on a dynojet with 4.10s compared to 3.27s (debate with friend)

He and several other of my friends are saying that it doesn't make a difference because it is all corrected and some say that you will dyno higher because it changed the 1:1 ratio of 4th gear and makes it run through the gear faster so it makes the dyno think you're putting down more HP...

Need PICS of Cobra R and STEEDA Wheels

Hehehe, yea I don't consider it riced out at all but some people think the wing and graphics are too much. Oh well, it's a Steeda, that's how it's supposed to look.

Need PICS of Cobra R and STEEDA Wheels

Hehe, yea I don't think most people realize it's a real serialized Steeda and think I just riced out a GT, lol. It's a 2001 with the T45 tranny. I don't have the whitefaced guages but I'd really like to get some. The sticker on the car was $28,500 I believe. It was one of the base Steeda's...

Need PICS of Cobra R and STEEDA Wheels

It's just what came on the car from Steeda; as well as the decals and the suspension. But yea I'd like some 18"s and then I could throw on the Steeda louvered hood and front splitter and it'd look good. With the 17"s it would make the rims look too small to have that much bulk up front. Maybe...

    STEEDA Race Wing

Hehe, yea I like to take pics. Friends and I will get together for shoots of our cars in various places. I use a basic FujiFilm FinePix A303, just a point and shoot camera. It's a 3.2 megapixels but I use the lower settings for my pics usually, no need to have a giant res/mb pic to put up on...

Saleen, Drive it or park it?

Hehe, I've put 40,500 miles on mine since Jan '03. I rarely see any performance cars being driven like they should so I think it's great when people actually drive them. Saleens are too damn sexy to be sitting in a garage! :D

Saleen, Drive it or park it?

My Steeda is my daily driver, it has 68,700 miles on it now. It's one of 70. However I'm not sure how Steeda's compare to Roush' and Saleens' on the resale value. I just love driving the thing. :D

    STEEDA Race Wing

It's the f'ing street lights outside you faigs. The tires didn't even have tire shine on them. :rlaugh: It does look like some ricer put mad tight gold tint tire shine on though. :notnice:

Need PICS of Cobra R and STEEDA Wheels

Only bad thing about Steeda's rims is that they're all 9" wide so you're restricted to 285 at the max in the rear for the 18". However you may be able to fit some 305/35/18 Nitto DR's on the 9" since the Nitto runs narrow.

    STEEDA Race Wing

There's two versions of it. The (flat one) is for the '99 and '00. The slightly curved one is for the '01+. You shouldn't have to redrill if you get the appropriate one based on your year model but you can always drill new holes if you like one or the other better. I like the '01+ wing...

Need PICS of Cobra R and STEEDA Wheels

Steeda rims are the sexiest of them all. :D They're 17x9. I'd like the 18" but 17x9 looks fine.
