Painting Calipers?????

Plastikote high temp enamel with ceramic. :nice: Painted them last Fall, and they have endured the salty roads like a champ! Sorry, the fender wells were a little nasty.

    What is Leatherette?

To be a little more specific, the top pads on the front bucket seats are real leather; the rear bench, the sides & backs of the front buckets are not. As cheap as the leather is that Ford uses, I almost wish that they would use fake leather for the entire "leather" package. :notnice:

How would a timing adjuster affect air/fuel?

I'm probably going to order a Steeda timing adjuster and pulleys very soon, but am a bit concerned about the air/fuel mix after advancing the timing. I'm planning to try between 13-15 degrees of timing (this seems to be the norm before detonation for N/A GT's), but don't want the car to be...

What kind of Oil do you use?

I've used Havoline for years (in 2 vehicles), but recently switched to the Mobil 1 5W-30 dinojuice. I honestly can't notice any differences, and my gas mileage has remained the same.

dyno PROOF on k&n filters....... part 2

Charley, this seems like a valid argument. How long did you have the filter in the car before the dyno run? As with any mod, the computer needs a little time to re-learn. I expect that the K&N would make more of a difference with more mods (e.g., exhaust).

    muffler suggestions

Magnaflow! Based on your description, I would say that they will give you what you are looking for. Magnaflow = relatively quiet at idle, loud under moderate acceleration, very loud at W.O.T.

How often do you oil your K&N?

I clean mine every 12K miles. It's been in the car for over 44K miles, now. :flag:

    flows

MagnaPacks = LOUD glasspack mufflers; round tubular mufflers MagnaFlows = relatively quiet at idle, moderately loud under acceleration, loud at W.O.T.; oval-shaped mufflers

    Poll- Help me Pick exhaust

Your car EXPLODES! No, they get very quiet. In fact, the car is quieter now around 2300 than it was with just the X-pipe and stock catback. Mach428, no need to worry about them being quiet at WOT. I think people will definitely know that you have exhaust! Ron Jeremy...

    Poll- Help me Pick exhaust

I voted for the Packs because I didn't notice the 1am arrival time. If the car is for casual driving, I would say the Packs; however, if you don't wanna' wake your neighbors, buy the regular Magnaflows. Be warned, though, that the regular Magnaflows aren't as quiet as people claim...

What are the chances of getting an interior squeak fixed by taking it to the dealer?

Do you have the Mach system? I think it's related to the speaker cabinet. Mine has the same squeak, and I've never been able to fix it (Ford was clueless about a remedy). Please post a response if you get somebody to fix it. I would love to rid the car of at least one squeak (leaving only...

How to tell if the GT has traction control?

Nope, I actually prefer not having it. :nice: BTW, I knew you couldn't keep that thing stock!! Mmm...longtubes.

How to tell if the GT has traction control?

Sorry, but what does the ABS module look like? Is it something located on the brake calipers? The only toggle switches I have are for the fogs and for the O/D; therefore, I'm assuming that I don't have traction control.

How to tell if the GT has traction control?

I'm fairly certain that '98 was the last year for "optional" traction control on the GT's, so is there an easy way to determine if your car has it? Is there something in the VIN or on the rear axle? Thanks in advance! :flag:

    welded mufflers

I am content with the weld-in Magnaflows on my car. Got them shipped from Full Line Exhaust for around $62 each, and they are polished stainless steel! I really like the looks of the diagonal cut tips on the stock catback, and I keep the pipes shiny (as shiny as possible in the Winter...

    question about muffler offset

Keep in mind that the stock catback is 2 1/4," so you will have to either buy reducers or modify the stock pipes. :flag:

To All Those 96-98 Gt Owners!

See sig. @ 60K miles. It's slow, but I love it. Just trying to be patient for a couple of years until some aftermarket heads become available. I'm sure that somebody like Trickflow will develop heads that breathe even better than the P.I. ones. Eventual mods will include aftermarket heads...

Car tracks in ruts bad... any solutions?

It will help, but I doubt that it will prevent it. It's one of those things that you will expect with a low profile, W-I-D-E tire. Keep in mind that even a 245/45/17 tire is still putting about 9" of rubber to the asphalt, which is not exactly a skinny tire. My car is lowered, but it...

    painting calipers

 Didn't even notice the jack. I guess I was in awe of the "ROUSH" on the side of the calipers. :flag:
