    painting calipers

http://www.imboc.com/Uploads/345-1071087445.jpg :OT: What is the yellow foam-looking stuff between your fuel tank and the exhaust? Is is some kind of sound-dampening material? I think my catback is rubbing against my fuel tank.

    painting calipers

Here are pics of mine. Painted them with three coats of PlastiKote ceramic engine paint from AutoZone. I accidentally got a little overspray on one of the rotors and one of the shocks, but that's just better rust protection from the salt. :p

'98 & '99 GT owners, when was your car built?

I'm trying to determine the specific date that Ford ceased production of the '98's, and began building the '99's. I'm fairly certain that it was sometime in October '98, but haven't been able to pinpoint the day. Rumor is that Ford built some of the late '98's with P.I. heads, but nobody can...

    Tach gauge "sticking."

How much would I be looking at to replace the gauge or harness, say, from a junked GT? Will I have to replace all of the gauges (is it one harness) or just the tach?

    original battery life

:OT: What was the exact build date of your car? My '98 was built in mid-October, so I'm trying to find out exactly when they stopped building the '98's and started building the '99's. Thanks.

    Tach gauge "sticking."

Stock gauges. I've never removed the gauge assembly, either.

    original battery life

My car was built in 10/98, and I'm still using the OEM battery. Had it tested recently (along with the alternator), and they said that the factory battery is still very strong.

    TTT, anybody?

    Air Silencer

An article in a recent 5.0 magazine (I'm pretty sure it was 5.0) dyno tested a number of common "free mods" and bolt-ons for the 4.6L and found that the removed silencer produced "0" gains (at least, on their test mule). I think most people do it to hear the intake sound rather than to get that...

    Bassani SUCKS!!! do not buy!

Ford garage code scan= $90 AutoZone code scan = $0 :nice: Sorry to hear about your luck. I learned the hard way, too, after paying Ford $90 to ultimately clean the IAC on my car (something that can be accomplished in 5 minutes with electric contact cleaner).

    Tach gauge "sticking."

The tach gauge on my '98GT seems to be "sticking." It works properly above 2K rpms, but below that, it bounces around at random intervals. For example, if traveling at 1500rpms, the tach needle will stick at 15, then jump to 17 and back to 1K. Other times, it will completely flat line. :mad...

How to keep magnaflow tips clean??

I use Campbell's tomato on mine. :rlaugh: Actually, I use Meguiar's Hot Rims cleaner on the factory polished stainless tips. In the summer, I also use a bug & tar remover (that is, when the state actually puts $$$ into road repairs).

How the hell do you keep your car clean in winter?

The GT is also my only ride. See the bottom of my sig. :notnice: I usually wear 2-3 shirts and a hooded jacket, and brave the weather with cold tap water and gloves. I've been known to hand wash the car, outside, at 34 degrees. I drive through an automatic car wash with underspray...

    exhaust sound clips

Maybe try www.Mustangexhaust.com . Nino has a pretty good selection of clips, so I'm sure that there are a couple with an SLP set-up.

Trick Flow has a new plenum out

What kind of gains have been demonstrated on these aftermarket upper intake plenums? The TrickFlow website says that their plenum flows up to 100cfm more than the stock piece, so what kind of gains would this translate to on a N/A GT?

Bullitt suspension..worth it for a nice drop?

~1" drop all around. I have used this set-up since Oct. '02. Like others have mentioned, the drop is more substantial on pre-'99 cars. I would like an extra .5" in the front; however, you can definitely tell it is lowered when you pull up beside a stock GT. IMO, the ride is much stiffer than...

Bullitt suspension..worth it for a nice drop?

Here are a few pics of my ride with the Bullitt set-up: The bottom two pics were taken just before Thanksgiving, and the 1st one was taken in early Spring.

    Dynomax Catback

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and recommend Magnaflow ;) (because you will likely get a number of responses doing so), but why not go with a "straight-through" designed muffler. My understanding is that the Super Turbo is a chambered muffler, and designed almost exactly like the stock...

    to paint interior or not?

Maybe you should contact the business to see what type of paint they use. I personally wouldn't paint any areas that would be prone to wear or chipping (armrest, for example).

    simple green engine clean

I used the regular Simple Green and hosed the engine down after 15 minutes. It made the engine bay look fantastic, but it did leave spots on the aluminum parts. I have yet to find anything that will remove the spots, so you may want to dilute your solution (in other words, it's corrosive).
