    Oh I see now. This guy you bought it from beefed up a stocker to 140 amps in the same housing correct? If so, it should be a direct bolt in.

    You should'a asked the inspecting mechanic. In Md, everything has to be there and in working order. WE have a book to reference for each model, year, make that tells exactly what the car came with. If he no longer has the equip. he'll have to get it. Unless you can find someone to pass it.

    There are tools made specifically for installing them. If you can get your hands on one it will be a big help. Otherwise it will be a struggle. Tool looks like this, not a very good picture though.

    How does the car run? Have you checked the oil to see if it is contaminated? Also there is a chemical tester that detects hc's in the cooling system. If you can locate a shop that has one have them test it. I wouldn't be so quick to determine it's the h/g's. Is this a new problem since the new...

    NP! I was just trying to find out why. It's one thing if the one he has is damaged but if not, why change it? That's the only point I'm tryin' to make. Seems like extra work for the same end result.

    Heater core is in the dash, If you take the glove box door down, you can see the temp cable. Follow the end to where it connects to the heater box and see if it has a full range of motion when the temp knob is rotated.

    There is no need for that extra 3 wire connector oyu have. The old one connects directly into the alt w/o modification.

    Well where does all that connect to? It looks like your trying to do it the hard way to me. Mine is set up like the article w/ the exception of the added 4 guage power wire and have had no problems what so ever.
