    diffy cover

Need? No. They do hold a bit more fluid, which helps to keep them cool, and the aluminum helps radiate heat more to keep them cool. They have preload bolts for the bearing caps to prevent distortion under high load. They are important at the dragstrip or track car. Street car? not needed...

    new motorcraft plug

Champion offers a one piece now. http://www.championsparkplugs.com/more_info.asp?AAIA=1433389&pid=27288 still expensive at $19/piece, especially copared to $6.45, but they are probably coming down in price and they look to be great plugs.

Don't like the stock headrests, try this....

That's what I do for auto-cross; flip it around. With the helmet, you're still pretty close to the headrest in that situation. everybody sits at a different comfortable angle with the seat, and for some that angle pushes the headrest into thier head. For competition, I sit a little more...

    3V Spark plug change hell

Well, the car is funtioning as planned, so no recall as such; it isn't something that NHTSA would pull the car soff the road for. What's between a TSB & a recall? Customer satisfaction something-something? Depends, but sometimes they are sent to the customer to bring the car in; other times...

    KYBs anyone?

http://www.hotpart.com/index.php?p=show&id=174 That's where I got 'em. I think they were hard to find for a bit, as Koni apparently had a manufacturing issue. http://www.stranoparts.com/searchbymodel.php?CategoryID=64&ModelID=5 they are there also. I had them on my WRX as well...

    KYBs anyone?

I put the fronts on before winter came in, and like 'em. I have the rears sitting in the house waitng until it's consistently above freezing around here. I like the fronts and had them turned up a bit when it was warm. turned them back to the softest setting for winter, though.

Wheel/Tire - Need your info for FAQ

Wheels: Rota Tarmac III 18x8 35mm Offset Did you need/use a spacer? Nope. This rim isn't hubcentric to mustang though; 73mm versus 70.5 for Mustang. No problem so far, even with auto-x. Tires: Kumho Ecsta SPT 235/50R18 Suspension Mods if any Koni Struts, Panhard bar, LCAs

Ha ha ha....man..I love the torque of a V8.

Coming from driving a WRX for six years, the WRX & STi are much more setup to handle well from the factory. They also have stiffer suspensions. After driving the mustang for a week, I'd get into the WRX and bounce all over the place. The STi is worse. On the track, yes the STI is much better...

My new '05 V6!!! Problems already?!

Bad ball joints would be painfully obvious on a test drive; clunking llike crazy over bumps and when steering!!! bad rear shocks would be noticeable to most people; bouncy in the back. belt squeal would be obvious. All the flushes (brake/ ps/ coolant) not needed, unless you have specifically...

    Question about the NEW Mustang

Both dodge & GM have cylinder deactivation available on thier v8's. However it only improves mileage by ~1 mpg. When the engine is idling (like at a stoplight), it's running in V8 mode because the shake when running in V4 mode is too much. Then they shut V4 off over ~2500 rpms or so. So it...

    Body roll with new tires?????

Actually it's pretty common to run 40 psi at auto-x. Most people start around there, work out a good front/rear pressure balance (to get the car to over/understeer the way they want), then go up down with the set to find optimum grip. At auto-x, tire pressure only goes up ~1psi between runs...

    BBK 62mm Throttle Body Help

The question is, will raising the voltage raise the idle rpm? I think if you are worried about that (it probably goes the other way), just adjust it slightly and check out the effects. With such a high start speed & high idle, you are probably pushing oil into the heads & it's getting sucked...

Horrible Gas Mileage! I need help!

The short trips are a big part of it; My car often takes ~4 miles to get to operating temp, so you are running the engine cold a lot. If you've gotten 28 on the highway, then it is definitey the short to/from work trips. Tom

Horrible Gas Mileage! I need help!

Check tire pressures, amke sure they are over 30 psi. How far re your trips? if you are only running a couple miles at each start, the engine is running a little rich to heat up the cat. try starting in 2nd for a tank. Tom

How to modify for Road Racing

Just covering the basics here, :) but didja turn off the traction control? I've read of people toasting the rear brakes specifically because of the traction control. Tom

Shouldn't these rims be 6.42 backspacing if they have 36mm offset?...................

18x9 with 36mm offset means 4.5 inches plus 1.42 inches (36mm offset) plus 0.5 inches for flange. 4.5 + 1.42 + 0.5 = 6.42... yeah, there may be a typo there. maybe the flange is only 0.25ish inches? Tom

Yeah. the 5.8/6.2 would have been fun, and you know supercharger kits would have been out within six months... Tom

Two lovely questions. Stripe care and skippy wipers.

Sounds like old/worn out wipers. I got the newer springless/cageless style and they work great. I also use rain-x, love it! Tom
