    It Runs!!

I took the turbo apart and had a turbo shop look at the center section and shaft. The center section needs honed and the shaft ground. He said the guy who "rebuilt" it before probably just sandblasted everything to make it look rebuilt. But I got it from someone who got it from someone...

    It Runs!!

There's no coolant in the block. I just started it up a few times to finally hear her run. My exhaust flange had some oil in it :(. I think it's because my oil return line has a bend in it, and/or is too small. I need to make another one that's a little straighter and bigger. What size...

    It Runs!!

It's a rebuilt T3. It was leaking from the oil feed and oil return lines. I need to redo thoes.

    your favorite II memory?

Last night set a new record for best moments in my 78. I went out to the track and got picked on for having a 4cyl Mustang. That was until I had 2 back to back runs at 13.23 and 13.35. The car still needs a bunch of tuning but that's not bad for an engine a little bigger than a coke bottle :)

    More stupid questions! *Yeah!*

I used to do the upside down thing too, with my feet hanging over the head rest. Then in the process of removing all the wiring from the car I discovered how easy it would have been to do what the other's have said and unbold it from the engine compartment and drop it down. Oh well, a nice...

    Fuel injection for V6?

A turbo charged 2.3 EFI is a pretty easy swap. I just finished doing mine. It's nice to have fuel injection in such an old car, and boy, the room I have with this 2.3, it's really nice. About a CFI setup, I would avoid that at all possible costs. An outta tune carb will normally run better...

Do you have to warm up your II?

I used to, or be really good at feathering the gas. But now I'm fuel injected, so no need to wait, or worry about cold weather stumblings.

    It Runs!!

I finally got my 2.3 running. The car's far from road-worthy, but at least the engine runs. It runs, idles, and revs, oh, and smokes horribly bad. It's all white smoke and since I don't have my downpipe on yet it's going everywhere, but I had someone check and it is comming from the exhaust...

Finally cranked it over, no spark, code 18

My Ford EFI manual had the information, I just didn't do my research before asking for help. FYI, the PIP sends a square wave to the ECU as the hall effect sensor passes through vanes in the distributor, this lets the ECU know how fast the engine is going and where in the crank shaft...

    Car wouldn't start this morning

Glad to hear you're back up and running.

Finally cranked it over, no spark, code 18

Wow, I'm really getting ahead of myself. I also just realized that I forgot to hook up the engine to chassis grounding strap. I'm not sure if that's going to cause my problem, but it's something that needs to be there anyways. The ICM gets 5 wires: an input when in RUN; an input when...

Finally cranked it over, no spark, code 18

Update: I put the ignition module from the 2.3 on my 5.0 and it started up no problem. On the 2.3 I didn't have any dielectric grease to put on the module, couldn't find my damn tube. When I put the module back on the 2.3 I got a spark. It was a very weak spark, but that's either because my...

Finally cranked it over, no spark, code 18

I have one fro my GT I'm planning on trying. I'm just curious if anyone has ever had that code before. It also suprised me that codes got thrown during cranking, but I'm thankfull that it did. BTW, my batterys dead now :(

    Car wouldn't start this morning

Take both the ALT and battery in to an autoparts store. Most can perform a full charge on the battery for free, during that process the charger can tell if the battery is good or not. While you're there have them test the alternator, which they should do for free. This way you're sure if...

Finally cranked it over, no spark, code 18

I've been battling with this engine swap for a while now. I finally got to where I could start it today and cranked it over. It didn't start, I'm getting fuel but no spark. I ran the engine codes and the first set gave me code 11 while the second set gave me code 18. Now the engine hasn't...

    Car wouldn't start this morning

Kinda hard to test the spark if you can't crank the engine :). I had this issue before too, turns out I left the car in D for some reason. It really pissed me off when I got a screw driver and biased the starter relay myself and the car starts driving away with me under the hood :). Also...

    Alternator wiring

Thanks for such an informative post. I found the wiring diagram already in another Chilton's I have. However I'm a little confused on one part. In my diagram the switched ignition source is tapped from the same line on the ignition switch that powers the ECU relay (or biases it). That line...

    Not holding fuel pressure.

I'll try that, I'm hoping to start it up today for the first time.

    Selling 5.0 for a Jetta I think.

I think I've decided to stick with domestics, that and parts for VW's are spendy. I'm thinking of going with a saturn SC2. I test drove a 02 the other day and it was awesome. After driving Mustangs for 6 years it was hard to find another car that felt good. That and the engins used in...

Who here put a 2.3T in a Mustang II ?

I might be able to just get away with enlarging the current holes to move the bracket closer about an inch or so. I'm going to look up that thread, what you said sounds interesting.
