    2011 Stang Review!!!

That number isn't from Sean hyland. its from Richard Holdener's book. To put it in perspective, Fox Lake Racing says fully ported they can get 350/300 intake/exhaust out of the GT500 heads at .600 lift.

Shopping for new exhaust- few questions

If you want long tubes down the road, you are wasting money on a mid-pipe at this point. Long tubes will require a much shorter matched mid pipe than stock exhaust or shorties. Don't let that convince you to go with shorties though. They are a complete waste of money. No power to be gained...

99 mustang dyno numbers good or bad

If you to make the most of your cams, you are either going to have to port your heads, buy a set already ported, or get a set of trick fllows. Personally I recommend a set of Trick Flows, but that's just my opinion.

99 mustang dyno numbers good or bad

Mustang dynos (eddy current type) typically read about 8-10% less than any type of inertial dyno (dynojet or otherwise) when they are all corrected for environmental conditions. So yes, if you dyno 293 on a mustang dyno, you will probably see a higher number if your original was properly...

    2011 Stang Review!!!

I don't think that they flow 350 CFM. The R&D team said they outflow GT500 heads by 4%. The best number I have seen for those heads is 268 unported. I am thinking the coyote heads will be 280 stock. Ported I am sure they could get 350 though.

99 mustang dyno numbers good or bad

that typhoon is a piece of junk. Every reputable shop that has tested them under proper conditions has LOST power against a PI at every RPM. That said, your numbers are not low. Unless your heads are ported, the rest of your mod just don't add up to a lot of power. Figure stock it was...

how to tell pi heads apart

Yes, other than valve cover bolt patterns everything should be fine. You definitely get a PI style intake manifold and cams as well. The manifold and cams rather than the heads are where the majority of power from a PI swap comes from.

how to tell pi heads apart

Square intake ports and a heart shaped chamber. NPI heads have a tear shaped intake port and a circular combustion chamber.

Coolant Problem - Coolant Level Rising

Kilgore Trout is correct when he says these engines do not blow head gaskets, or rarely do. When they do there is always an underlying problem rather than a material failure of the gasket itself. Nearly every time it is due to one of three things. 1. A coolant system failure that draws a...

    Supercharging a PI swapped '96.

If you re-use your 1996 timing cover (which you should be able to), the supercharger bracket should bolt back on just fine. You may need to shave a little material off of your supercharger idler pulley plate though (due to the PI location of the alternator). I had to when I installed my pi...

    Supercharging a PI swapped '96.

Jusj FYI, your average head swap is 10.2:1. And contrary to popular opinion, centrifugal superchargers LOVE high compression

    Which would you do?

I have a T-56, but its a D&D viper spec. It shifts fantastic and can handle at least 750FT-LBM. On top of that, the sixth gear is .50. So even with my 4.10's, I still get ridiculously good RPM and MPG on the highway. Also my first gear I think is 2.66 so I can launch a bit harder without...

    97 Engine Rebuilt...Need Advice

The differences between options for PI and NPI cams has nothing to do with combustion chamber shape or any piston characteristics. The difference is in the distance from the valve retainer to the spring deck in the cylinder head itself. The NPI will only allow for .535 inches of travel, but...

    97 Engine Rebuilt...Need Advice

Both PI and NPI pistons come to .008 below the deck. There is no taller or shorter piston. The NPI piston has an 11cc dish. The PI has a 17 cc dish. That is why when you put PI heads which have a 43cc chamber (NPI is 51cc) on a NPI shortblock the compression jumps to 10.2:1.

Check out some sound clips on Spin Tech. They sound nasty when wide open, but they are pretty tame at low RPM.

    convert 96 to 99+ body?

Guys, I gotta disagree. Where I am at you can find a good 96-98 for 2-3000. But that being said, the only reason to ever consider it is if you LOVE that body style. Otherwise just get a 99+ for around 4000, because when the mod bug bites...and it will, you will have a LOT more options. Even...

    BBK shorty headers

You know, I bet those headers are just about what a good set of valve springs cost. Any cam change should include a set of springs as well. springs will give you just as much power as those headers and hey....its a lot easier to do with the engine out of the car.

    BBK shorty headers

Not even then. Even FI, there is no scavenging nor a reduction in restriction from shorties. If you don't want long tubes that's one thing, but if you are purchasing shorties for performance, put that money toward PROVEN mods like cams or heads
