    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

I’m not set on the RPM cam but would like to make 400HP (if possible) with the stock bottom end, RPM heads, intake and whatever cam can get me there and still be streetable. I’m running Hooker Super Comp headers on my stock 390-GT heads. The rear gear is the stock 3.25 with a locker. I...

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

I’m sorry guys, I don’t know JACK about converters. I’ve always driven sticks. I know what they do but don’t know how to pick the one I need. 1320stang, you’re right. That is for the complete motor. I can’t go 9K and when I talked to them on the phone, they quoted me that engine. No...

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

Yea, sorry to say, I can’t afford the short block from Keith. 8K is by far outside of my budget. I’m sure it’s worth it. I talked to them directly and they were very nice but I’m sure they would rather answer a “paying customers” questions on cam selection. Their stuff is hard core. He told...

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

OK, I’m going with a short block option and Edelbrock RPM heads and intake. The last question I think I have is this. What cam will give me the best performance with least trouble? Should I go with the above Elgin Pro-Stock or with the Edelbrock RPM cam or what? I have to go with adjustable...

    Brake questions...

If your going to replace the drums, might I suggest replacing the wheel cylinders and rubber lines as well while your at it. Yea, that will add $100 or $150 to the job but it’s more than worth it IMO.

    Welder Question

Plan on spending $400 to $450 for a Lincoln Electric Pro Series Pro Mig 135. Lowes has them for $437 plus tax. You may want to check on a Sears Craftsman version. Might be less or more......

    Welder Question

I too have a Lincoln (flux core) 110v version. I'm going to buy the gas shielding adapter setup soon. Spend the extra and go with gas shielding. You can make cleaner welds and it's easier to weld thin stuff using gas. The flux core seems to be hotter and harder to control on thin sheet...

    1969 mach 1 steering problems

You don’t by chance have headers do you? I ask because your problem sounds like the issue I had two years ago. The drop bracket for the steering cylinder was loose just a bit and when I turned, the bracket would move making the steering sloppy.

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

LMan, Did you get my PM? D.Hearne, if I did go with what you suggest and get short block, would it be worth stepping up to Ebrock RPM heads? Do they flow that much better than my stock heads? Also, I've always been told a "high volume" and "high pressure" oil pump were the same just...

    Rebuilt 390, Need your help/opinions please……

I’m looking to replace the 390 that’s currently in my Mach 1 and need everyone’s help/advice. I’m open to all opinions on this topic. I’m looking at $3300 shipped to my door no core charge 12 month 12K warranty. My local shop wants 5K for the same build up with no warranty and no RPM...

I need ANY and ALL info on the 1969 390 4v

I can only add that I too have a factory 69 “S” code Mach 1. Mine is a low option car. PS but no PB, drums all the way around auto transmission. It did come with the am/fm radio which I’ve been told was a very expensive option in 69. You may want to look for build sheets under the carpet...

    any experience with indy mustang?

IMO………..Don’t do it. I sent them several emails asking about the 390FE they always have out on Ebay. I wanted to know specifics about the motor. I didn’t ask anything that anyone buying a motor wouldn’t ask. You know, what pistons it had, what year the heads were, it the block was an FE...

How do I align the rear quarter windows on a 69 Ford Mach One?

I’ve done it on my Mach 1 after I put in a new headliner and weather-stripping. You have about 4 points you can adjust. One is behind a rubber pad on the door post, One is at the top of the window (2 screws that mount the window) and the other is a mounting bracket accessible after you take...
