    Engine re-build

Thanks, I already have Edelbrock RPM heads that I was running with the stock pistons. It was making 200 RWHP with the Performer cam and intake with the heads. I'm looking forward to the next dyno trip.

    Engine re-build

OK, I decided to overhaul the 289 instead of just replacing the cam. Going back with Keith Black Flat Tops + .030 Comp Cams XE268H Edelbrock RPM Manifold And fixing little things as I go. Hoping for 275 - 300 at the flywheel

    Road Trip Problem

Castrol make a 20w-50 syntec oils tha they say is specifically esigned for flat tappet cams. Higher zinc etc. I belive that the desiel route may be much more economical. I am taking this opportunity to rebuild the engine and make some upgrades.

    Road Trip Problem

I am using Mobile 5000 10-W 30 with Mobile filter changed every 3K, Cam was install over 20K ago, broken in as you described. I wish I could find a difinitive reason before rebuilding. BTW, I was wrong about the end play. I did not realize that the gear located the cam so the reading was off...

    Road Trip Problem

I inspected the plugs and checked the wires to make sure they were in the right order. I do believe the popping is ignition because it is not constant. Why would a cam go bad after so long? I have never had bad oil pressure. Would a lifter cause a backfire like that? I can't figure how w/o...

    Road Trip Problem

Yes on both. Seems to go as long as I don't aks too much. Just noisy and down on power. Not even too noisy. Am considering trying to nurse it home under it's own power. I did not check to see if the distributor moved but I have no reason to believe that it would.

Tuning Edelbrock Carb w/ help of Wideband - Suggestions?

Watch the indicator to see if you are leaning out where you have the bog. You are right about the springs, stiffer keeps mixture rich longer. Edelbrocks web page has good info on tuning the carb and I have seen articles out there by others as well.

Tuning Edelbrock Carb w/ help of Wideband - Suggestions?

I have the Edelbrock 500 CFM carb, Performer intake and cam, RPM heads and Edelbrock wide band. The base setup on the carb usually is correct. Bump your timing a hair and see if you get a better response. It is so easy to move the accelerator pump in a notch at a time so that it is something...

65 With Versailles Rear and Traction Master Bars

Right now I just have the sway bar. I look again at the Maier sight and if I had it to do over I would go with their rear springs, and their panhard. That would eliminate the need for the traction bars. I still may do that. They put extra stifness in front of the axle on their springs to preven...

65 With Versailles Rear and Traction Master Bars

I have not looked at all the possibilities. There are several out there and one may work with the sway bar you have. Some mount on top of the axle so that type should clear. I am going to try this setup. I have an addco rear bar that is located on top of the axle and am looking at the Maier set...

65 With Versailles Rear and Traction Master Bars

How about if he put a panhard rod on as well? That would eliminate the bind from side to side movement and make it handle better in the turns.
