    Carb tuning help

With a 7-year old carb and a worn pump cam, replace the pump diaphragm too while you are at it.

    Carb tuning help

Ratio411 I'm not bashing or picking on you, but this was my belief too before I solved my hesitation off the line (personal experience with testing). My Holley 600 VS ran fine behind a 289 '66 with 3.00:1 rearend. With just changing the rearend to 3.50:1 the car started hesitating off the...

    Removing camshaft

Mine ran strong before I destroyed two cam bearings pulling out the cam. I got my cam out by pulling back and forth on the cam until the bearings finally gave way. Once it broke the bearing ridge, it flew out with the cam lobes stopping on the bearings (that why I suggested adding some sort of...

    Removing camshaft

Yep, just two bolts. Sounds like the lifters had a lot of build up on them...not uncommon.

    Removing camshaft

As mentioned before, use a long bolt to help pull and leverage the thing. Word of caution - when the cam breaks loose try to avoid the cam lobes from hitting the bearings. The last "quick" cam change I did I ended up pulling the motor for some new cam bearings. :nonono: Maybe a small plate...

Best Holley carb for 347 stroker combo?

Just to throw in my 2 cents: I ran both a Holley 650 HP and Mighty Demon 750 on my stroker (352). My motor is a similar build but has a little more cam than yours and it seems to favor the 750 through most of the rpm range. I did notice a little more throttle response at low rpms with the...

I've experienced something similar...turned out to be the ignition switch.

    RE: engine stand

Number 2. I have number 2 and number 3 and 3 gets a little sketchy when moving around the garage and the front wheel gets stuck on something. Number one looks cool, but I can see how those legs might get in the way when working close to the motor.

    Official Drag Tire Thread

Yea I was debating whether or not to do that, but I figured this information is better together than on separate threads (this thought crossed my mind while reading the thread). I will start another if no one responds.

    Official Drag Tire Thread

Also in addition to the tire/rim/suspension questions, how do you guys keep from ripping apart rubber motor mounts (bolt through mount, anchor chain to frame, or belt to frame)? I never liked the look of the chain thing; will the bolt through the mount handle slicks?

Last thread.. I promise... tachometer options in a 66

Auto Meter makes a 2 5/8 inch pedestal mount tach if space is an issue. I luckily found an original low profile 8,000 rally pack to use. :nice:

    Nickel, chrome, or ceramic Tri-Y's

Go ceramic. I dinged my ceramic headers for the scattershield installation and raising of the exhaust ports on my Canfields (header hits shocktower)...no rusting yet.

Washed, Waxed, New Wheels - Pictures

Looks very clean. Those wheels don't look like the 15" Torq-Thrust D's in your sig? What size are your new wheels and tires? How much did you lower your car?

I think the alignment guy is trying to screw me

Pre 1967 cars did not have an eccentric - I wish they did. Shims on the UCA were the way to adjust it. You can buy an aftermarket one and weld it in though.

    cleveland parts

I wanted one of these motors back in the 1980's, but opted for the 351W heads on a 302. :nice: I still have the 80's advertisement for the track boss manifold. Nice combo 20 years ago, but as D.Hearne mentioned it's not worth the effort today because of the aftermarket products for the...

will exhaust out of a '67 pop right into my '66?

I used a 2.25" Summit 65-70 exhaust system in my car. Had to do a little tweaking over the axle and through the valance, but other than that it fit fine.

67 Fastback Parts Pricing - Help please

Hard to estimate prices on some of the parts without pics. Can you post pics of 9,16, 17, and 18? These parts alone can exceed $500. Is everything original, except the hood? The price range for these parts varies quite a bit based on condition. For someone willing to purchase everything...

I was going to recommend a set of custom u-bolts, but you found it on your own. I think I paid around $24.00 for my set, so you got a deal. :nice:

    66 302 AOD exhaust

I have 2 1/4 near the gas tank and 2 3/4 out the valance. I was thinking about going bigger on my exhaust, but would like to see how something bigger than 2 1/2 looks near the gas tank. Do you have any pics?
