    Try unscrewing the zerk fitting a half a turn out. Sometimes they bottom out on the shaft and will not allow grease to flow. I have one that needs to be lossened a 1/4 turn when greasing it. After servicing it just retighten.

    Sounds like your Ign switch is going south on you. Intermittent loss of power and hard starting while cranking is worn contacts inside of the switch.

    Dash light problem, check for pinched wire in loom or near cluster for shorting out lights. No turn/brake lights , recheck all connections from switch harness.

    You painted the eng bay, Did you clean a grounding spot off the fenderwell for the starter sol and voltage reg? They both need a good ground to operate correctly and the sheetmetal screws that hold them in place is not a good enough ground.

    Timing Trouble

    From info you posted, sounds like you have the vac advance hooked to a constant vac source and not a ported one. This is what is advancing the timing to 30 while running. Unknown rpm reading when trying to set timing, too high and the centrfical weights may be adding to int timing also.
