    I think the rubber is there to help with road noise coming for the steering rack. I would try replacing the rubber before I would weld it together. I mean just from the safety stand point it the weld fails then you are going to not have a very good day.

    Are you talking about the slip joint? it's the first joint after the fire wall, or are you talking about the joint that looks like a u-joint? I would replace it with a new steering shaft as I did with mine. I would go with an aftermarket shaft the ford ones seem to wearout quickly. I'll look...

    You don't have to pull the column to replace the steering link, you just unbolt it from the lower steering joint at the base of the column and unbolt it at the rack pull it out the fire wall into the engine compartment.     I replaced my steering shaft with a maximum motorsports solid steering shaft today. The clicking is completely gone. I was very simply to install it only took about 20 minutes.

    I have the same problem with my column I believe it is clicking at the joint right above the slip joint (morgason joint I think it is called) I am going to fix it sometime next week. The guy that donjohn was talking about welded the slip joint.

    Quick 351w question

    Cool guys. I heard over at turbostang about the 600 crack hp thing. I was thinking in the 500-550hp range with a 94 roller block. I can get a used 351w with 63k miles on it for $550.00 from a local wreaking yard. Thanks for the info, Adam

    I was wondering about how much horse power you can make before the block would fail? I know 600hp is about max for the 302 before is cracks the block, so how about the 351W? Thanks, Adam

    Why not get a mustang pull the 351 of the lincoln and stuff it in the stang. throw on a set of heads, cam, intake, and carb. then run her till something brakes. It not that bad I just bought a 82 mustang with munch quarter panel for 50 bucks. good luck, Adam

    Ya, I did it the next day, I have to readjust it. It rattles when I go over a hard bump, but other the that it sounds much faster (but it isn't).
