    Oil pan/Timing Cover off - Should I replace chain/pump?

Myth. http://data.melling.com/TECH.php Click on the High Volume pdf and read the document. I run a melling hi-volume on a 393 stroker with a stock pan and I am fine. The pump can't pump any faster than the engines clearances. Period.

    Head install, a few questions

Cam mfgs always recomend that you use their springs. Spring pressure is more important. Side note: Edelbrock heads come with dual springs. I always thought cam warranties were a joke. If you wipe a lobe, the price of the cam is the least of your problems.

    valve covers

I have Edelbrock chrome VCs, and they clear full rollers, and aren't too tall. Really tall VCs create space issues when changing plugs.

    1969 302 Mustang?!?!?

69 GTs have a black stripe along the rockers, GT wheels, a hood scoop, 351 2v at the minumum, hood pins, GT gas cap, and quad exhaust tips on the 4v cars. There are a lot of fake GT cars. The car refered to in the picture doesn't look worth 10k to me. Sloppy paint job with ugly trim.

whos got the best full quarter pannel

Be happy you can get full quarters, even if it's your only option. I have a 70 coupe that needs a full quarter, and they don't make em.

    What is it worth

While it is rare with the options it has, there aren't any fan clubs for 65-66 6 cylinder coupes. Rarity doesn't necessarily equal value, demand plays a part.

How did you get started working on cars?

You got that right. In trade school they never explained to you that you would spend all day as a line mechanic working on POS Chevettes and Citations. I was an ASE Master Tech at 20, and a retired ASE Master Tech at 22. I hated working on my own cars then. I love it now.

    70 Mach 1 - 351C - what rearend did it come with?

If Clevelands came with N cases, they would be a helluva lot more common these days....

How did you get started working on cars?

I was born to it. Nobody else in my family understands it.

    70 Mach 1 - 351C - what rearend did it come with?

All Clevelands got a 9 inch. Non-Mach's got ratios as high (*or low) as 2.75:1. The standard ratio depended on the transmission choice. All the ratios you listed were available, as well as 2.75.

EDELBROCK RPM 2.02 OR 1.90 INTAKE

I am running the 1.90 heads on my 393 for 2 reasons: 1. The smaller valves will clear a variety of pistons, while the 2.02s will not. I can re-use these heads on any SBF I want. 2. Due to the shrouding from a 4.00 inch bore, you really don't get much gain at all with the 2.02 heads. Edelbrock...

    To port or not??

Push comes to shove, when you put money in a factory cast head, it's money you're not putting into a casting with 40 years better technology. Consider that new RPMs can be had for about $1100, and that Edelbrocks really don't need to be dissassembled anymore, and the fact that you get all new...

is there any verdict yet on beehive springs?

Allegedly the performance advantage is that they don't vibrate like doubles due to different harmonics, and because of their design, you don't need as stiff of a spring so they are easier on the cam. Odd that Crane wouldn't recommend them, I can't remember the last time I have seen a broken...

    To port or not??

The intake side of a 351 is not the problem, it's the exhaust side. Port the thermactor bump out and leave the rest for competent aftermarket heads.

    Crazy Idea

You are just getting paid for your labor, at the end of the day. If you want to couple that with a major financial investment, you better know what cars will sell for, and what repairs are worthwhile. Most people decide just to get paid for repairing cars rather than flipping them. Of course...
