AFR 185's do I need adjustable guide plates?

Damn, been a while since i out them in. Can't remember, but I don't think it was much different from stock length actually. I'd just recheck that the guide plates are where they should be, and that the studs are torque down right. I'll get back with you on the length, when I can find out for...

Timing chain... can I just replace the chain?

Drain the oil out. It's just your best insurance. What in your oil, washed out main bearings. It's bad. ANd that seal is the front main seal, and should come in the timing chain replacement gasket set, i think.

    AOD-to-T5 swap. Wiring question.

From what i remember, you should be able to get a factory wiring hook up for the back up lights that plugs into the chassis harness. As for the nuetral safety switch, I think you re gonna have to break out the soldering gun for that, at least I did

    adjustable rockers clacking?

I rum my rockers at contact, plus 1/4 turn. THey made a hell of a lot of noise when I turned them past anything more than that. Speaking of that, I need to go do that too. :P

Car running hotter than it should..

Glad someone else in this damn world has the same problem I do. I've done all the stuff, and my car does the same thing. The only way I can get the car to run where I'm comfortable with it is when I pull the stat completely out, and replaceit with a restirctor plate. When it's cold the car...

    AOD-to-T5 swap. Wiring question.

The two prongs on the side are for your reverse lights. They don't really have to be connected, if you don't want. The wiring up front is the neutral safety switch. It keeps the starter from engaging when the car is in gear. BUT, the more important one is the one on the clutch pedal. Without...

need an answer on a 351w block?

Get ahold of DSS. THey advertise in MM&FF, and they we're very helpful with me and my engine q's. But i'd feel fortunate to get that block, cuz you can use stock style 5.0 roller cams, not reduced base circle cams, saving you $.

AFR 185's do I need adjustable guide plates?

Assuming that you mean that they are running on the side close to the intake, that just means incorrect pushrod length. I run the same heads, and have no trouble with misalignment.

Timing chain... can I just replace the chain?

Go Ahead and do both. If You're on a budget, I'd just buy a standard replacement from Napa or somewhere like that. It's not much more to get both, and is cheap insurance.

Problems with idle after H/C/I, any suggestions.

My car just simply likes to idle high. I run the TwEECer, and i set the idle to 1000 rpm anyway. Cleaned up my idle surge problem. Also, make sure your fuel pressure is ok. The car sould be idling rich after your swap. But that's just my 2 cents.
