Bad Vibration from Rear End after replacing pinon seal

Oh yeah, and I'm doing all this with the differential cover on (never took it off to do the seal) so everything is currently installed in the diff.

    Timing vs. AFR

I'm also interested in this. My dyno guy suggested that for every 2 degrees of timing advance that I should add 2% more fuel in my PMS table for that RPM range. But he said that there's really no definite number that you have to do and no way to truely know without getting it back on a...

Bad Vibration from Rear End after replacing pinon seal

So torquing it to 140 ft lbs (spec) won't crush it further? Is the turning resistance done with the wheels on or off? Backlash is the amount that the driveshaft twists before the gears start turning correct? Seriously talk to me like I'm two here, I have no idea what I'm doing. lol...

Bad Vibration from Rear End after replacing pinon seal

Can I get away with using the old crush sleeve or do I need a new one? Is it right that the backlash will get smaller as I tighten it? Ex from .012" to .006"?

Bad Vibration from Rear End after replacing pinon seal

So if all my manuals say minimum 140 ft lbs, I (most likely) need to go back and torque it more then right? I'll probably check the backlash first and see if I need to go tighter or if I went too far. And I did mark the DS before removing it with some red paint so I know that's ok.

Bad Vibration from Rear End after replacing pinon seal

Greetings, I was going to replace the pinon seal on the rear end while doing my clutch install so I marked the driveshaft and took off the pinon nut (without checking preload or backlash ). Wound up not replacing the seal since I saw no leaks and put it back together. The books I have...

Is there such a thing as a "Factory Freak"?

You mean the cable was just too loose? I've heard that unless you have "light" tension on the cable, that the quadrant can rattle and vibrate...

Is there such a thing as a "Factory Freak"?

I know they are rarely wrong but in my case I've been doubting them. Maybe there's some unknown variable that is causing this to happen. Who knows I'm sure the 60' concept isn't a myth, I guess I was more a less venting about what I've run into with that. Clutch isn't in just...

Is there such a thing as a "Factory Freak"?

Maybe, but certainly not as often as people say it does... I'm begining to think this is just as bad of a myth as the factory freak. I've had runs with 1.9 60' times at 13.2 seconds then the same day I had a 2.2 60' and ran a 13.1. And that didn't just happen once. I understand that...

    Question on drag suspension setups....

lol I actually already picked up a Spec II since I didn't hear one bad thing about them. I'm hoping to have everything back together by sunday so I can enjoy the last few weeks of "decent" weather here before I put it away. My car has been down so often this year that I've only put 1,500...

    What DRs to get?

Exactly, I can't afford to break on the track presently so that's why I have to go slow for now lol

    Question on drag suspension setups....

Thanks Paul, I'll look into that once I plant my money tree. (H/C/I and now a blown clutch made me chop the old one down). K member is more than likely a fairly big chore since you need to switch everything over to the new from the old right? That will have to be a winter project one year...

    Turbo Bug ? got squashed

I usually take the shifter and gently engage reverse just so the backup lights will show at them.

    Question on drag suspension setups....

If you go coil overs, can you then tune it for street driving as well to help the car handle turns better when not at the track? How much does a coil over setup usually run just out of curiosity?

insulation pad under hood,do we need it?

If I have money to burn in the future, I'll definitely look you up. In the meantime, my next project is going to be rebuilding the rear end so I can run slicks. Thanks for the offer though. And I'm still waiting for that paycheck for the PMS mount, I hate bi-weekly paychecks!

    What DRs to get?

ET streets are basically slicks as far as I've been told, and I don't need to be breaking the stock 110,000 mile rear end right now. Maybe some BFG's are the way to go for right now. The next big mod I'm planning on is a complete rear end rebuild with some 4.10's (vs my 3.73's) 33 spline...

Ah, the O2 sensor harness, that's what the big plug is for? makes sense.

insulation pad under hood,do we need it?

Really? Wow, it looks just like one that a company USED to make a while ago but has since gone out of business. Ah well, money to be spent elsewhere I suppose. Looks great though!!

H/C/I Swap gone bad, need some help please!

That goes down to the oil pressure sending unit and another big plug right next to it (down near oil pan in front of engine drivers side). I'm not sure what the big plug down there does to be honest but that's where it should go. It kind of gets routed down around the PS pump bracket on the...
